You can't expect the Chinese to sit around while the US militerizes space...

under a space policy authorized by Bush in August the US asserts a right to "freedom of action in space" and says it will "deter others from either impeding those rights or developing capabilities intended to do so." as well as the right to "deny, if necessary, adversaries the use of space capabilites hostile to US national interests."

which means the US owns space and if anybody tries to jack that claim, they can bust a cap in their ass.
