SNYX GUIDE to JAZZ up your WindowsXP! [easy2do]
Okay well now that I have windowsXP pro moving (was using home edition), I decided to start to tweak her out! All you need to use ANY of these tips is windowsXP HOME or PRO, ether will work! Now these are things I have wanted to change, and hunted out the answer for, now I'm going to explain them step-by-step so anyone can do them, and maybe learn something in the process!
Tip #1 - Style Change First off I wanted to use this so called "enhanced style" feature that I read SOOO much about before XP came out. So if you have played with your theme properties you are probably using one of the 3 BASIC styles they start you with; Boring blue, Weird olive, or my fav Silver with the weird green start button. So is this all? NO WAY!! Sadly to really change up your XP look, you must use a 3rd party program (one that doesn't come with windows) Some call it "skinning" was huge on win98/2k with programs like windowblinds. Now you CAN use windowblinds for XP, but they want you to pay for it to use all the features, and it takes up system resources ect, ect. So obviously if you look around you can find ANYTHING for free, and I found this super cool program called StyleXP witch does everything we need to "skin" your XP. So you can click here to download the program, its about 5MB shouldn't take more then a 1min on a fast connection. Once you have that downloaded and installed, its fairly easy to work, and comes with 10+ of its own styles! Now wasn't that EASY!? One program, I think EVERYONE can work this one. It's quite stright forward to use, but if you need help, feel free to ask! Next tip: Changing "start" button text to whatever you like! (this one gets a little tricky) -Myles :135: (rolf, look what I do with my lunch break) |
