dude when i was there visiting my dad ... i was bored as fuck ... there isn't anything to do in my oppinion and i even asked ppl that use to live there to tell me what to do and even those activies weren't that great.
But if your going with friends then i'm sure you'll find something to keep u amused ... but that city is really clean, they have alot of cute skater guys, and for some reason no one hangs out downtown ... i believe 16th or 17th ave is where everyone goes .. Calgary seems like a typical clean-cut working class city, right?
That's what you'd think, until you spend a couple of months stuck there sharing a place with an ex convict and two hospital employees in the southwest side working two five-buck-an-hour mall jobs (thank you Mr Klein) that you have to walk to cuz the buses are on strike. That's when you start to notice that nearly everyone has some kind of shady business going on. All the bartenders at cactus club are dealing blow on the side, and your boss is mainly running his business to launder his E money... there's a kid in the back kitchen who's supposed to be washing pans but comes to work with a digital scale and has way too many friends visiting him back there with the door closed... On the plus side, nobody really cares about being late or goofing off, so you can throw wet croutons at each other and eat all the toppings while people are waiting for service. And you eat all those toppings because they gave you that hash to keep you entertained. Highlights of my stay in Waydowntown land: The Warehouse (younger crowd, but this DJ Special Agent is worth seeing) Saint's Rugby Club : DJ Hype headlined a party there for halloween under a huge circus tent. There were people dressed as giant lego men. That doesn't help you, but it was still cool. |
