Restricted To Party/fun
Just found out earlier that there will be a $5,000 fine to anyone caught throwing any type of bush party within the Greater Vancouver area under the local Vancouver Police department and RCMP from the ocean to the west, from hope in the east and mt currie in the north to south at the usa border.
Vehicles and sound equipment located in the area to be confiscated and or impounded until further notice and other misc fines just to piss you off and hopefully that you get the message. |

The forests and parks around Vancouver will be crawling this weekend with forest rangers, volunteers, police officers and retired firefighters attempting to keep the public out of the tinder-dry woods in accordance with the province's unprecedented backcountry ban.
North Vancouver RCMP issued a reminder Friday about the extreme fire hazard in the region, specifically targeting teenagers who, in the past, have thrown large bush parties and built massive bonfires in the North Shore wilderness over Labour Day weekend. "Historically, they've been out in the parks and have started fires," said Staff Sergeant Rod Carlson of North Vancouver RCMP. "It's a really dangerous thing when they start the huge bonfires." In the past two years, it's become something of a tradition for incoming Grade 12 students to head up to Cypress Bowl or Cleveland Dam on the eve of the first day of school and throw massive parties, said Sergeant Bob Fontaine of the West Vancouver police department. |

^^ what he said
the fire thing is completely understandable, but banning fires is one thing - completely banning any congragations whatsoever even when not disturbing others goes directly against... "1. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society. Fundamental Freedoms Fundamental freedoms 2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms: a) freedom of conscience and religion; b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication; c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and d) freedom of association. " if no one is starting fires then there is no danger and is well within the "...reasonable limits of a democratic society." |

yah i know, but if you get good at talking to the swine (which i have in my many years of hooliganism) you can swing it...
but what the hell are the "breakbeat" issues... are police adverse to anything but house or techno? "I'm sorry son but you're gonna have to come with me. We don't allow that kind of music around these parts, and those scratching noises you were making are probably going to tack on another couple years to your sentence." |

Michelle, That's what I meant in my other post. IF we can find a place, such as a house or persons property but they don't want everyone and their mother to show up, you can always do it as a friend to friend type of thing and not an "everyone who knows about it can come" type of party. At least it will be a party and our/your friends will all be there.

that is there big worry. they aren't just trying to stop people from having fun. prevention of forest fires is what they are after, and the simplest way to achieve that is to keep people out. any fires that come up after are most likely due to natural causes and are out of their control. |
