oh man, especially when it would do all the screeching, but then it would fail to connect cuz something was wrong with the provider, then u'd have to keep dialing in and listening to the screeching like 15 times.. ughhh...i was around for the 14.4 kbps modems...

I have a wind up modem, i have to crank it evertime before i go online and evey half an hour in between, its pretty ghetto, but alas, that is waht i get since im a student. :soak:

my old computer 8 years ago had 14.4 and i had that CPU for like 5 years... so by the end of the 5 years i was downloading music as 14.4 kbs.... which works out to like 1kb a second lol :hehe:

i am still running off dial-up because my internet got jacked, but not fro long :tounge1:

my first modem was for my 286 computer, it was a 2800 baud modem. omg, it would download at 0.28 kpbs max. but thats ok for the text based mud games i used to play. bbs's were the shit! lol. you had to dail a number to post messages on thier message boards.

i've actually disconnected the high speed a couple times and gone back to dialup to try to keep my internet use to a minimum, but i always end up coming back. i'm such a fucking data junkie
