Just got the word that bassix is closin down at the end of the month. I've been buyin records there for almost 5 years now :(

i remember buying rave tix from there and selling rave tix as well.Not to mention the awesome vinyl and super courteous staff.We'll never forget what this store did for vancouvers electronic music culture.

that shop has some really sick customer service... maybe you should try socialising with the staff more often, get your way a little.

After over ten years of business in Vancouver, I have decided to move on to new things.

thats right, i will be moving over to On Deck, and will continue everything as normal from there. this next weeks order will be a small one, but by the following week things will be back to the same old grind and whatnot.

the girl that worked there in 1999 she was the best.. she would be able to order me any track I wanted and it would be there when the next delivery came and if there was a track she couldnt get.. She would call me and let me know.

after she left.. I kept ordering records.. they would take 5 months, sometimes never and i never got a call from them, secondly there techno/trance section sucks cock.

That's why you should never staff a record shop with ALL dnb/breaks dj's.

actually, we've never had a breaks dj working for us, i'm the only DnB dj, everyone else who worked there was into house, and yes our TRANCE section sucked ass, because all of our regular customers from back in the day stopped buying in town and started buying online. Our techno section however, was one of the best. maybe not big, but everything in it was awesome. courtesy of the best buying EVER from the one and only Tyler "T-Bone" Stadius.

as to shawna "the girl" you were mentioning...
she was tyler's wife, and she will be forever missed.... RIP:(

as to why bassix closed it's doors, well, on top of there being WAY too many record shops, Don is the only owner in town who has no personal interest in dj'ing, so he's going to go back to teach english at UBC.

man this is making me sad, i worked there for 5 years, bassix was the best!

I cant believe my eyes! Bassix was the first record store i bought all my hiphop and battle recrods from.. This is very sad news indeed for all of us djs and record collectors.
