speaking your mind

In a social setting, do you speak your mind or is there etiquette in doing so? I suppose that there is tact, and some people have it down better than others, but is that subjective?

When done right, it gets you what you want; but it can backfire. Is that part of the process? Not everyone gets what they want...

there is a time and place for everything, and if u cant speak your mind, then whats the point of speaking out?

well I'm really quite flattered that you are following my threads but I can assure that they are not the same, unless you can't differentiate.

However..
In regards to my question: is etequette advisable, or should you always speak up? Sometimes it doesn't always work in your favour. Does that mean that you should take into account the setting and social surroundings; therefore suggesting that etequette is something that should be taken into account.

what about a happy compromise between etiquette and voicing your opinions?

So etequette should be taken into account? Possibly with practice, I suppose one can learn to understand just how to get what they want without it backfiring.

Or maybe just learn that social settings require an understanding and in order to get what you want you have to learn how manipulate them.

or maybe you should understand that some things should not be manipulated, but left as they are until a better time and place to bring up what you had on your mind.

Is there something wrong about asking questions to get answers? I could post about how my boyfriend and I got into a fight and I need help with some good advice.

no there is nothing wrong with asking question to get answers, except that when you write a thread about etiquette and having speaking their minds

you should let them speak their mind

i have no problem with people asking questions, just stated that you repeated yourself in another thread.

if you wanted to talk about you and your boy then heart-2-heart is the place to be

in regards to your question, i always speak my mind, can't go too wrong with being honest. also if people can not accept that i feel a certain way and say my mind about whatever is being talked about then will just have to deal with it, tho i should point out that sometimes things that come out of my mouth aren't always the brightest and the right time to say it.

Is speaking up rude unless if it's right? It isn't always. Thats all I was trying to bring up. It's an art, I think, and the ability to speak up is something that should be respected.

speaking up is pretty much saying your thoughts. i don't really know why someone would want to hold back their opinion, everyone's voice matters

Only when it's done with tact. Otherwise you look like a rude cunt.

ya, i like to think i do. remember, this is in a social setting.

i'd like to be able to say i don't care at all what others, think but then i would be a liar. for the most part though, i say what i feel otherwise...... im just lying to myself.

I believe that etiquette is always important in a conversation with others - in any type of setting. It's about caring how others feel, and though your opinion may not change, how you deliever it can make all the difference.

edit: in regards to this thread being the same as the other, it seems to me that china merely wanted to try again, perhaps clarifying more.

Speaking my mind is a way of life almost for me.

I just need to learn when to keep it shut.
