My kitchen table and chairs are solid oak and are 20+ years old. They are in perfect shape and will last another 50 years I have no doubt. Rather than buying a bunch of shit at Ikea every 3 or 4 years you should try buying one signature item a year.
My Parents still have some chairs and shelving from IKEA that they bought well over 10 years ago. It's all how you treat your shit.

You can get a solid Oak Table and treat it like absolute crap and trash it in three or four years too.

i have to say some of the shit falls apart..mostly the partical board wood shit. but if u invest in a nice item from ikea then it will last.

as i said b4 it good for ppl who have nothing and can only afford a certain amount..then u can bulk items to furnish ur new home.

All my furniture is Ikea, I bought the whole Bond set 3 years ago.

Birch veneer.

Us Scandi's love our birch.

*Not mine but have the same shelving unit.

My place has lots of 70s teak and some newer Ikea chairs.

Too bad they don't have a good web store, it's a long drive for me. Need some special bulbs for the little Ikea lights.

Ikea has some nice stuff....but their furniture only lasts for 2-3 moves. Then it just starts to fall apart.

Also never get ikea furniture wet.....I remember helping a friend move when it was raining...a computer desk was left outside for a while. It ended up as a pile of Ikea oatmeal...lol

I <3 IKEA for making living a lot cheaper for a student.

My lovely mum&dad helped me pick up a few things for my new home come October.

I was able to buy a bunch of great things for just under $100!

No other store can get me giddy about 75 cent plates.

I really wanted that big LEAF thing that you can hang over your bed.. it was in the KIDS section.. but it would have satisfied the inner kid. I decided to PASS on it cause I didn't want my roommate to think I was a freak. lol
