Hey DTS..... you fuckers
You guys are fuckin morons. I mean graffiti is one thing but tagging is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. It's like a dog pissing on a tree so he can mark his territory.
The reason I'm so pissed is that one or more of you fuckheads tagged my home. You know what, if you want to tag something... tag a goddamn lightpost, mailbox, back of some business for all I care.... but I think you cross the line when you do it to somebody's home. That's completely disrespectful to the people who live there. I know who a few of you are and you've always seemed like nice enough peeps so it would surprise me if you didn't at least understand where I'm coming from. I don't know who you know in my building because you tagged inside too. The thing is that in a condo when shit like that has to be cleaned up it comes out of strata money... out of my pocket. Basically... if you're in my neighborhood again, or in my building and you plan on marking it up.... I encourage you to come and knock on my door first and introduce yourself. Maybe when you know somebody there and you know the effect it has you'll think twice. I just get by as is... I can't afford to be paying for some fucking janitor to clean up fucking cat scratch that you guys think is cool. /rant Last edited by Cdn_Brdr; Nov 05, 04 at 12:50 AM. |

Dude I have no idea when it got there... its out front of my building, its in my elevator, its in my lobby.....
Like I say man.... I don't care what you wanna do for fun but keep it to public places if anything.... doing it to somebody's home is lame. |

I find a lot of the graff around the lower mainland to be absolutely beautiful. There are some very talented folks out there.
On the other side though, not many things piss me off more than the immature, talentless fucks that feel the need to "represent" all over wherever they are. Get your own identity for fucks sake and if you feel the need to mark your territory, try pissing on a tree. |

^I'm with you Dave... if graf is done well its amazing. I mean I find it to be a work of art and it should be encouraged as long as its not on private property. There's that wall at 1st and Esplanade in North Van.... its a parking lot with a giant wall and its covered. Perfect place to do it!
A house is no place for either graf or tagging.... |

This thread is funny.
People will always do tags it's called "getting up" it's a part of graff the people doing all the pretty pieces you see are also doing tags cause they are "keeping it real". People who just do legal work on legal wall's and don't bomb are not real graffiti artist's. Not saying tagging your lobby and people's fences or houses is cool i'm for sure not down with that. |

so what you're saying is tagging houses, churches and schools with black jiffy markers is considered "keeping it real"? yeah I guess they are keeping it real, real stupid. |
|

Graffiti is meant to be illegal that's how it was in the beginning people going out at night and putting their art on the subway. Doing an illegal piece gives you a rush cause your doing your art and taking a risk it's the reason alot of people do it and it's like a protest. The term "keeping it real" is a term used by writers, people who are keeping it real are out putting in work on a regular basis. People who are not keeping it real are the ones who sit in front of legal wall's all day with their expensive german paint that cost 8 bucks a can spending 6 hours on one piece.
That kinda explain's it i could write pages on this subject but i have no time for that. |

most tags you see on houses and churches are done with a marker and are most likely done bye 12 year olds who think they are cool...
i mean sum ppl do this for the love of it and cause they are awesome at it.... i have seen great shit done, mainly thx to clay showing me pics and i admire anyone who can do that.. it takes talent to do most of that shit with fucking spray paint... most do huge pieces and to say that the run around tagging houses with a pen seems stupid especially when youve seen the shit they have done on trains and other stuff... |

That still doesn't make sense. A lot of the shit that I see around couldn't have taken more than 30 seconds to do. The only work put in is taking the cap off the marker, and I'm sure the only rush would be from either sniffing the marker or the few seconds of "hyuk hyuk hyuk" after accomplishing their "work".
I can understand the rush of doing a full piece somewhere, and the added accomplishment of pulling it off. I can see how those who keep it real in that sense could have a sense of pride in what they do. But how does doing something like I mentioned above do the same thing? How can you take pride in fucking with someone else's property in such a retarded manner? I see that as nothing more than common vandalism. Ever, I'm not directing that at you as you seem to have boundaries to what you do, but I have to ask, do you appreciate someone's piece less if it's done legally? attack of the toy's.
ps graff is about being original, each writer is known for something, wether it be a style, a spot, getting up (eg being allover the place with tags), and plain out originality. Im sure the kids just want to king the area so others see theyre up. Like Opah for example...his stuff is out in the most heatiest and most insane spots (but his bombs arent all THAT great)...so from what i see is this kid trying to do heaty spots, but a waste of paint cuase everyone knows you dont hit spots if they get removed the next day. |

ps. some graf is cool - tagging isn't about anything other than an ego/power trip (the whole territory thing alluded to before), is often done on personal property (which then becomes vandalism in most peoples eyes) and for the most part is butt ugly and completely illegible (translation for taggers: illegible means we can't read what it says)

Wow... this thread keeps going and going... Granted it is an art.... but maybe they could simply keep it off personal property... if your "keeping it real" your rebelling against the man no? i duno imo you just dont tag/graff/ leave your mark unless theres beef.
