Ice T vs Soulja Boy

Opening salvo's of hiphop's latest war has started.

So apparently, Ice T was interviewed and when asked about the state of hiphop and more specifically soulja boy, he went off on a rant and told him to "eat a dick" and saying that Soulja boy single-handedly killed hip hop.

This audio was included in a DJ Cisco mixtape.



Of course, young, impressionable soulja boy caught wind of this and responded on youtube here:



Which prompted Ice T to "apologize" on youtube along the lines of "Sorry I told you to eat a dick, but your music is still garbage and you're still killing hip hop." The ending of this video is priceless.

Soulja boy is the hot topic because he's been the face of wack hiphop since Crank Dat made it big also because he seems to be completely devoid of any talent whatsoever.

Lil Bow Bow at least has a decent flow and delivery for his age. That and he's nowhere near on the commercial level that soulja boy is at. Hell, most people probably don't even remember that he exists (i'm one of them).

Gab is great, but he's the epitome of a backpacker rapper. Making tunes for mid-20s, middle-class, college-educated white kids that are brainwashed into thinking it's "real hiphop" when hiphop actually originated in the ghettos and the streets.

Personally I love backpacker hiphop but don't get it twisted: it's no more "real" than the top40 ghetto shit that's out there - just a different form of hiphop...
