There are two stories coming out of this:

Jazzy Jeff, Skills & Z-Trip all state that the promoter/owner stated not to play any "rap".

The official word from the associated press (The Associated Press: DJ Jazzy Jeff abruptly stops Kansas City show) is that the promoter/owner was simply asking for the music to be turned down.

Was finding out about this happening in realtime from Z-Trip's twitter. Apparently he was playing rap/hip-hop all night and no complaints from the club owner. He blames it on racism.
