I also noticed a LOAD of New Entrys.... Paul Oakenfold : #11 'Moved DOWN 2 Spots' Eddie Haliwell : #17 'Moved UP 8 Spots' Benny Benassi : #22 'Moved DOWN 4 Spots' Yoji Biomehanika : #31 'Moved UP 1 Spot' DJ Vibe : #40 'Moved UP 40 Spots' *NOTE: Biggest climb on the 2005 Top100 Lisa Lashes : #56 'Moved DOWN 26 Spots' *NOTE: She reclaimed her #1 Female dj in the Top100... but also her second most noticable slide. EDIT:2001 Dj Mag Top 100 was her biggest drop with a 33 spot slide. Lady Dana : #78 'Moved DOWN 49 Spots' *NOTE: She lost her title as the world #1 Female dj as well ass biggest slide in the Top100 Charts...poor Dana. It's kinda like a poll I saw for History's top 100 guitarists. Hendrix was #1 (granted), Stevie ray Vaughn was #47!!??? BB King was not even in there. Now I'm not to say who's better than who... just that you can't really compare artists (specially with different genres) like that. apples and oranges for sure. I like BPM's polls way better, cause atleast the title reads "America's FAVORITE DJ's", and not "World's best DJ's" fawk. |

45. DJ Yahel ???????
you gotta be kidding me...... I mean he's a decent producer but a dj????? christ this guy spins the majority of his sets using serato scratch (since he is a psy-trance dj) and everyone knows that if you use serato scratch and/or final scratch the art of beatmatching is no longer the same.... Why because not only do you have a headphone to listen to the beats but you can see the beat pattern, intro's,breakdown;s within a track...... No talent required at all..... This poll is absolute bullshit if you tell me..... |

Ranking DJs or any muscians for that matter is easily the most retarded thing ever and is bad for music. It's obviously just used as a marketing tool to say how so and so is # ___ in the world. It's a crock and is only a reflection of the type of people voting for these polls.
Oh and does BT even DJ? I could be wrong here, but I thought he just did a live PA. Last edited by angst; Oct 28, 05 at 03:07 PM. |

you can see the breakdowns on records as well... watching the drum kicks go by on the screen doesn't help anybody when they're DJing, least of all anybody who's actually been a DJ prior to getting Serato or Final Scratch the last time I checked, nobody who uses either of those programs actually watches their laptop screen while DJing therefore, using either one of these programs is exactly like DJing with records and your whole point becomes invalid the only time I think people who use these programs are being stupid is when they're playing stolen mp3s as opposed to WAV files or FLAC files they've purchased or been given by the artist about the list: the only person I'm happy to see on that list is Infected Mushroom, even though their sets are basically programmed in advance, from what I've heard... also, they play too many breakdowns and not enough stormin beats from their tunes |

After taking a quick glance, I don't think there's anyone on that list that isn't producing their own music. I don't think the DJ's listed deserve to be slagged, they're obviously doing something right. It's a public poll, I placed my votes for different reasons. Although a lot of my votes didn't make the top 100, I'm still glad I voted. I'm not sure how one would stage an accurate top 100 list, but this comes purely by personal choice over a majority. It proves no purpose but to promote the magazine and the club culture scene. And branching off, music/artists/djing isn't always about skill and talent. |
