Dig Electro? Found a killer stream radio station!
http://www.radioabf.net/V4/index.php
It's a Paris based site so it's all in french but the music is fucking mint. I listened to this yesterday for a good 8hrs straight and hardly heard a singe track I didn't like. If you're one of those 'Big Trouble' peeps you'll dig this for sure! At one point it switched to this sort of tribally house stuff for like an hour but went right back to the good stuff after.... probably just a one off show or something. Anyways... check it out. GREAT station! :) |

Seeing as there's all this hype with the electro right now I thought I'd dig this up so people can check this out.
This station is amazing. Every once in a while they have this wierd 2 hour stretch of some sort of African tribal shit but for the most part it's sweet ass electro. And as I mentioned in another thread already.... for all you electro-heads... this February is bringing Mylo to town. From what I know the venue isn't yet confirmed but the booking most definitely IS. Excited!!!! |

They play a lot of electro cheese though - almost half the time. Girls singing about broken hearts or waay too happy rhythms, melodies or bouncy basslines. Happy is good but when it gets gay, well.

yeah, shawn, where'd you get your information? everybody i've spoken to has said he's asking a ridiculous amount of money, and if they don't have a venue already set up whoever is trying to bring him probably won't be willing to drop that kind of cash...
i think you're hearing rumour, there, bud... |

right... and as we all know, boring DJs never get booked in Vancouver...
i'm not crazy about this new definition of Electro, can't we just carry on calling it 'House' and save 'Electro' for the Hashims & Soul Sonic Forces & Twilight 22s. please? |

I usually try to quantify it as electro-house or electroclash so as to differentiate it from kraftwerk, bambaataa et al.
ishkur's made the same rant as you, wood, comparing it to how everything was being called 'hard' without being hard at all (UK Hard House, heck, in a flyer for Olav Basoski someone referred to his style as 'hard disco house'.... wtf?), how when everything was once 'hard' regardless of how hard it really was, now everything is 'electro' regardless of how much it sounds like cybotron. there's some music i can listen to and agree with the electro nomer, but as with the 2-year-old kid that refers to anything circle-shaped, including pancakes, as a 'ball', musical genres tend to decribe based on a lot of proximity, so tracks that sound like electro-house without any electro in them are therefore called 'electro'. |
