Did you know they only made $10,000 from that song? The symphony sample they used was from an orchestra covering Rolling Stones tracks. They got the rights to the sample but got sued to death by ABKCO Records (who owned the rights to the song they sampled) anyway, leading to Richard's depression and the band's split. Ten grand to Verve; the rest to ABKCO. Fuck those RIAA cunts. It's only about money to them.

I've never been too impressed by his solo stuff. It's more for hardcore fans, I'd say. If the Verve is a 5, his stuff is a 3. You should try to find The Shining's
True Skies. That's what the rest of The Verve did afterwards. I like that album slightly more than Ashcroft's solo stuff.
