Recording software
Trying to finish my demo, but I need to record as I go along. All of the software I've found sucks, and makes my guitar sound like shit. It's a classical acoustic with a peripheral pickup (as in not part of the guitar) and the nylon strings sound flat on playback. It's cheap shareware, so there isn't much along the lines of equalizing incorporated into the program.
Anyone have any experience recording? |

oh, what kind of accoustic pick up are you using?...when was the last time you changed your strings?
Dean Markley over the years ive never been able to get good nylons with pick-ups or direct. miking through clean pre's is best. The nylons usually sound great through the pick-ups though, it's just as soon as it hits my computer if this project is really important, do your self a huge...HUGE favour and rent yourself a good pre-amp and mic. it's important in the sense that I want to have some of my music down on hard copy, but not in the sense that I can warrant dropping some mad cash down. Plus there's no music store in Fort Nelson *oh and i would recomend a sure ksm32 condenser mic for recording nylon strings with the freq cut switched on. Its always given me a clean bright sound. If you want a really crispy, metallic sound the akg-414 is pretty good and has wonderful freq control. I'll keep all this in mind. I just tried it up at my buddy's place. He's got a high-end X-Fi soundcard and it does sound better. Still. . . maybe I'll just get ahold of an analog 8-track personally, i like a warm mellow tone out of nylons and i prefer to use a Audix-d2 wich to many is a completely insane choice cause it colors the sound deeply. its designed to mostly be used on tom's I go for the warm mellow tone with a few of my jams, but I've been playing a lot of wierd shit lately, where I'm popping the strings to give it a slap-bass sound throughout my blues riffs. Totally just experimental, but I'm finding a sharper tone sounds better for that, so I've got to find a medium. Thanks a lot, Revolver. Much respect Last edited by tiedye; May 14, 06 at 09:26 PM. |
