Flirting in front of familly
Okay so me, mom, dad and bro go to Coquitlam center for lunch. We're waiting in line at the bourbon st grill, and there's this chick waiting in line at the KFC right next to us. So she calls me over and we start chatting. I totally recognize her but I'm not sure from where. For all I know she may be on F&K and if she reads this, sorry babe, bad memory. We say the customairy "what's new" and "have you been seeing anyone lately" comments and that's about it. Anywho so my first instinct is to start flirting with her cause she's really cute and all, but I've got my familly standing 5 feet away from us and I got all shy and went back to my place in line.
Later when we're sitting at the table in the food court, my mom asks me "so who the girl you were speaking to?" and I said, "I recognize her but I'm not sure from where." Then I was joking about how for all I know she may be an old flame or someone that I've dated and kinda forgoten about. So for most of the meal, I'm wondering how I know this chick and I couldn't get her out of my head(not like an obsession, more like an aching curiousity). When we get up to leave, I'm walking out of the food court and I look back and see her sitting at the booth about 6 feet back and 6 feet to the side from our table. So she waves goodbye and I waved back, then left all embarassed. I'm not sure why I posted this, I'm not sure what I expect to get as a reply, if anything. I don't know, has this kinda thing ever happened to anyone else? |

^Hehe
So did you figure out where you met her yet? Usually when that happens to me I'll be like "Sorry where did we meet again?". It's funny cuz yesterday I saw two ppl I met awhile ago through another friend and I waved at them and the guy had that "WtF?" look on his face then whispered something to his gf and I just went up to them and told them how we met then we started talking. But anyways it does suck when you wanna talk to a cute girl with your family basically watching you. |

/\ Nope, I still can't remember where I know her from, but it's ok. I got really stoned and watched pirates of the carribean, to divert my attention. It always happens to me, I bump into really cool people that I'm sure I know from somewhere, but don't remember where. I guess the upside to having a shitty memory is that everyday is filled with surprises, like the other day I noticed that I have a kitchen, I completely forgot I had one until I walk by and POW there it was. Now if only I could remember where I left my eyebrow, I lost one the other day and haven't seen it since. Have you seen my missing eyebrow?

Tell me about it. She even mentioned how my pony-tail got smaller, and that's something that has been slowly but gradually happening for years now. So for her to notice a big difference between the last time she saw it and this time, it means I probably haven't seen her in 3-5 years or so. Now how am I supposed to remember someone from 5 years ago, when I barely remember what I did 5 days ago? Oh well.

As you get older, you will quickly learn to jump on (well in this case not literally!!) any and every opportunity you are given or like very much in this case, you will be kicking yourself in the ass for not doing it later on.
The fact your family is present is no big deal! As you get older, you will care less and less about that as well! Another thing to point out - be honest with the person. Just say to her, "you know what, I am totally an ass and I've forgotten your name" and then re-introduce yourself. If the topic of "are you dating anyone come up as you said it did, clearly she is interested. Good luck! |

Umm... if she didn't offer you some fries she is obviously wait for you to make the first move.
I would have sat down beside her... taken a mouthful of rice... made a face that indicated that the rice sucked ass and ask for a fry to get rid of the taste and move on from there. *sigh* Need a map? :kam: |
