rawb, you have caps lock you've made your mark already, I think any further artistic contributions from you would only be overshadowed by your controversial signature typing style. |

word. the subject matter is pretentious for a whole wack of reasons..... but, the stenciling is quite nice and its rad to see this kinda stuff around town regardless. ps. why do I get -5 karma from myles for making fun of rawb. I liked it better when we knew what we were getting karma for (ie, the cute little messages we used to be able to attach to karma) |

I'm listening to Paranoia- I see some haters.
highly relevant. Also does any one know the name of the guy who uses different mediums such as throwing up wheat pastes n then he sits back and captures photos at precise moments that incorporate to what the wheat paste is...one piece of work he did was a photo of a guy riding his bike and he through up a piece of a girl making it look like she was riding on the back of the bike? The Darks stuff reminds me of his work. Good stuff.. Last edited by Segued; Jun 22, 07 at 11:55 AM. |

well.... this is strange. none of you know me but some of you speak as though you do. here are some facts.
1. i didn't go to art school. 2. i don't have a plotter, but thanks for the compliment. 3. i was addicted to drugs for the better part of my late teens and early twenties. 4. my father is homeless. nothing is as it seems. |

thanks dabbler, and others who are supportive. it keeps me going to know that people are affected by what i'm fortunate enough to be able to do.
the large pieces are all drawn, not printed. if you see one look closely, you will be able to see my fingerprints. |

I dig his stuff, I might have missed that memo about how Vancouver is too cool for this kind of art now, but oh well. I really really liked the show he had at misanthropy a few years back about the babies of the future (definitely subject matter that didn't involve junkies or titties). Someone should post some of those up! About his subject matter, some kind of art critic that was really bent on trying to put meaning in what he does could say that the subject matter of a lot of his works and the placement are very intentional, the alleys, doorways, walls, etc. that host a lot of his stuff are found in an area/close to an area where it's pretty much just that in the eyes of a lot of people- sex and drugs. Haven't artists pretty much always captured what was happening around them socially for people years later to see and get a true understanding and context of what it was like at the time? ..or we could just throw that out the window and say that it just looks nice and that I'm sure none of us mind the dark's art being posted around the city. I would rather see a piece by the dark anywhere than some shitty, uninspired marker tag, or a sloppy piece thrown up with spraypaint in like 2 seconds. |
