Mixer Recording Output
I've noticed for the longest time now that the left channel of my Rec Out on my DJM-600 mixer is sending more signal than the right one. The Master Level is also showing the left channel being louder. I have no control over that because it's an internal issue...
Does anyone know why it's doing this? It's fukin' annoying having to record a mix and then having to level the channels in my audio editing program to match each other. I wish I didn't have to to do that in the first place. |

hey nabs, do you know how to set the panning in Sound Forge? Their record window barely has any options that I can set except samplerate and bit depth.
I'm also recording into an external interface (Edirol FA-66) and it doesn't have any options for that specific input I'm using, it's just getting a natural signal. |

Man this is so fucked up - when I raise my CH1 volume fader (CH2 is completely down) - then that channel is louder, and when I raise my CH2 volume fader (CH1 is completely down) - then the other channel is louder. CH1 makes the left channel louder and CH2 makes the right channel louder.

I've had this happen before too.
I tracked it down on my mixer to the AUX send busses... I don't remember *exactly* what was going on, but it was something to do with the mono/stereo mode of the sends, vs what was actually cabled to those sends. |

You could just do a straight up normalization w/ in SF, or just select one chanel and bump up the volume in the effects menu I think it is....that or you just pan accordingly (on the mixer) and just watch your output and your pre fader rec in levels when recording. Bit of a pain in the ass but it yields to the desired result. Hopefully that works for you dude. :y:

Yeah this problem is for both Rec Out and Master Out. In fact, everything that comes out of this mixer is a bit louder on the left side.
Right now I'm just doing it the painful way of manually leveling the recordings. Yeah I know, I think the mixer is a bit busted... but that sucks for a $1,900 mixer... GAWD! Last edited by FireWire; Nov 23, 06 at 07:05 PM. |

has it been repaired before? maybe they replaced one of the master faders (heh) with one of a slightly different spec?
another thing to check is the cables... if you flip them over (ie, L->R), does the signal level problem change sides? you see this a lot with low-end RCA->1/8th cables - no sense using a $1900 mixer with $3 cables... |

I did everything possible with the cables as well and I have very expensive and high quality cables actually. I just know that there is something not going right with the mixer because the Master Level LEDs on the mixer are showing the left coming out louder out of the mixer before the signal even hits the RCA cables.
