m-audio Firewire Audiophile issues

So just recently, my M-Audio firewire box has been giving me problems with recording - it used to work fine for all recording until just the other week. Now whenever i record, there's various stutters throughout the recording requiring me to either manually fix it via edits or re-record (and hope the stutters don't happen again). This has been seen on 2 seperate computers so I know it's not a case of weird background processes.

I'm about to re-install the driver to see if that helps but just wanted to know if anyone here has any experience with this sound card (I know Mux hates any m-audio external cards) - does this problem sound familliar?

I had some problems with my firewire ports on my laptop. I resorted to purchasing a firewire card and pluggin the soundcard diretly into the firewire card. Yhis has since resolved all my problems.

hrm - i don't think it would be the port since the same issue is occurring when i plug it into my gf's brand new macbook - could just be the ports on the soundcard tho - or maybe the cable.

I've recently been bumping my buffer size a lot higher too - perhaps this is a problem?

yeah.. if its the same on the mac, it's not a firewire port issue. The buffersize is likely the problem, try resetting to the default size. If all fails, call up tom lee, those guys are super helpful
