Yamaha NS-10 Studio Monitors
Near mint condition Yamaha NS-10's for sale.
These speakers sound really good. Price- $600 o.b.o Here is what they say: “If it sounds good on the NS-10 it’ll sound good on anything”. While its sound-quality has often been derided, even by those who monitor through it, the NS-10 continues in use to this day and many more successful recordings have been produced with its aid over the past twenty five years than with any other monitor.Yamaha eventually discontinued the NS-10 due to the lack of availability of the wood pulp used in the woofer. Even so, old NS-10’s still dot the studio landscape and at present it seems to be the last of the old style Industry Standards. |

I wouldn't say these speakers sound good at all. They are great for the studio because as the article states: if it sounds good on the NS-10, it'll sound good on anything which pretty much states that these speakers actually sound really, really ugly unless you are really good at mixdown/mastering.
They are, however, highly accurate and great for studio use. btw, this post was made well over a year ago so I doubt it's still for sale. |

They aren't supposed to sound good, that's the whole point, I listen to them everyday I mix to make sure my balance is ok and to make sure my low end is right on, this tool is used by almost every recording studio in the world. Have a look at any photos of any major recording studio, see the white woofers in the black box next to the big boxes? NS-10m baby!
I kinda like that most people hate them, keeps the prices sane...around 450... My high end boxes are DynAudio Bm15a and Bm6a also Air20. Peace. Ray in Montreal. |

I use them as DJ/studio monitors as well and yea, the ugly, yet incredibly flat and accurate sound is great for production aspects but I wouldn't want to sit and listen to music on them... |
