I bought techs when i got my set up. I wish i would've instead got vestax or numark ttx 1 tables, but still techs will do fine.
DO NOT get crap tables. Ive played around with some sub par tables, and its a BIG difference. example: say you're cueing up record b to go into record a thats playing. you have the tempo's matched. you throw in record b, but shit...what happened. oh yah....the cheap ass turntable i bought has a weak motor and its almost impossible to throw a record in without it laggin behind to begin with. shit...i should've bought good tables. listen...dont buy shitty tables, just to mess around with. whats the point? its not the set up thats going to cost you money. its 1000's you spend on records. dont cheap out on your set up, just to have it hurt you in the end, and have to upgrade. try and sell shitty turntables to upgrade...no one will buy them. keep saving your money until you can afford something decent. |

LMAO...bawhahahaha... ya.....one table is like 600 bucks......good luck finding 2 and a mixer... :soak: crappy tables suck learning on....casue they suck and then you think you suck..and its harder to learn....but if you can do it on crap ones..then you can pretty much play on anything..its what i learned on...took a while...but ..oh well..... |

Ive never understood this idea. Every single event, whether it be a club, rave, lounge, whatever, will probably have tech 12's. why learn on a turntable that has a drive that weaker then that? Having to ajust for the weak motor in the mix is nothing but wasting time. ps forget about scratching on a shitty turntable. |

hhmm don't buy nething for $500 .. you can't even get a decent mixer with that. Its only gonna piss you off afterwards. Don't think of it as a good start... think of it as a waste of money -- where you can simply save and get some decent decks to practice -
AKEEL is on crack. well hez right, sorta but the thing is 500 is not even gonna be a crappy set. Crappy sets cost around 1200 (2 tbles abd a mixer) but with 500 you can get some malibu barbie tables that BEATMAP WITH A PRESS OF A BUTTON!! lol save and save 'till you get something decent. Also -- you shouldn't just focus on the tables... you should also think of the amp (you gots? which is pretty vital)... speakers... REKKIDS (this is where the $$ gets heavy) ... needle.. slipmz... and all the fukin acc-ries. -->and lets say you got some shiiiiiiitty crap for $500 -- its gonna make you forget about DJin' ... make your life misrable and make you give up: because the tempo is never str8 up in 'em and then pple think its their fault and they start losing confidence and it all just fucks up in the end. but don't give up ;) Hahaha this is exactly why DJs usually get crackin' in the older days. are they all direct drive? i know vestax is. if they're all direct drive, then no, you wouldnt feel a difference. "none whatsoever." but for 500 bux do you think shes going to be able to get direct drives, and have any money left over?
didnt think so. |

mango, don't listen to these weirdos sayin u gotta get a good setup, and that u need good tables to learn on. i can see where they're coming from, and that you'll just have to upgrade later, but ya know what, the experience and talent you gain afterwards, far exceeds the money you have spent on those shitty tables. when i first got my setup, --2 years ago-- i was using an old shitty gemini (which for some reason liked to change pitch by itself) and my mom's old belt driven record player, and a decent mixer. thats what i learned on. i used that setup for a year. i learned how to beatmatch, and properly cue a record without stopping the platter (which would burn out the belt), i had to keep picking up the needle at the beginning of the track, and speed up the record once i got the cue. i ended up mastering it. once i got my new tables it was sooooooo easy to beatmatch, it was so easy to cue, life was good. i could then do anything. after spinning for not even a whole year with good tables after getting all that experience with shitty tables, i can GUARANTEE you, that i am way better than i would've been if i got techs in the first place. i know i spent some extra money getting the shitty equipment in the first place, but believe me it pays off. and guys, don't argue. just because this didnt happen to you, doesnt mean its not possible. good luck mango :) Last edited by Pegasus; Oct 22, 03 at 03:45 PM. |

you can easily get a setup that works for less than 500. it will be absolute shit, yes, but it still works. |
