Peavey 15" PA Speakers For Sale
Got a pair of these unpowered speakers less than a year old. Not used much and in new condition, I took them to a few small house parties, I mostly use them as DJ monitors at home for messing around and never turn the volume very high.
PM me for more info. Price: make a reasonable offer. For DJ or other PA use they need an amplifier rated 200-400 watts RMS or more (@ 8 ohms), costing $350+Cdn. Such as the Peavey PV1500 (about $500 Cdn) or 400 watt Samson SX1800 (about $350 US) http://www.samsontech.com/products/p...1800&brandID=2 They definitely sound better with a good powerful amplifier for serious DJing in a big room or outside. They don't really need a lot of power for using in a house and a 100W stereo is good for a small house party. You can actually use them as home theatre speakers with a normal stereo receiver when you're not DJing. Lots of bass with the 15" woofer. They have a 1/4" jack, I added binding posts, and there is space for someone to wire in a Neutrik/Speakon connector if desired. They are very light weight, 37 lb, that is less than other similar speakers, so they're easy to transport in a car & also to lift up to put on a tripod pole stand. They have handles so an ordinary person could carry both speakers at once. Reason for selling is I want better sound quality. These are good considering the cost, and I liked the sound at first, I still like the sound on some music, but I decided to just rent higher-end gear for occasional parties/gigs. http://www.peavey.com/products/brows...1/PR%AE+15.cfm Last edited by beedub; Mar 12, 06 at 12:15 PM. |

Bold - that sub is at the Toew's store?
Dsl - let me think about setting something up & I will PM you. You're in N Van right? Probably better if I brought them there as you can hear them in your environment. Including tax I paid about $640 for the pair with 25' cables last May, so I was thinking $500. BTW Peavey has a matching PR sub at the same price which looks to be the exact same speaker without the tweeter. Once I put the speakers outside & turned them up loud pointed at the street & they sounded pretty good, better than inside. There's no echoes outside so that might be a factor. They sound best on music that is relatively simple without sounds across the entire spectrum. Like house with vocals. They're not as good as Mackie 450s or JBL Eons, but those are near 5 X more money. Here's an actual pic. A friend loaned me an old Bryston 250W amp you can see there, but he took it back. None of my speakers sound good in this room for some reason, bad room shape & too much echo maybe. I'll probably keep the stands, stores have them for about $75 each. $180/pr - that was a good deal!
I got the PR15's at Toew's and they usually have 12" on display and sometimes 15". I rented a single Mackie SRM450 for only $28 last weekend just to try it out and that was fun. About $2,000 to buy a pair. And you really need 1 or 2 subs in addition, another $2,000+. They have some nice speakers, I'd like to try a couple of their bigger 3-ways plus subs as I think that sound would be the best. |
