And a 12 y/o can have sex with another 12 y/o, and a 13 y/o can have sex with another 13 y/o, but not with anyone younger or older until you are 14. Without parental consent: 14 year olds can have sex with anyone 17 and younger. 15 year olds can have sex with anyone 18 and younger. 16 year olds can have sex with anyone 19 and younger. 17 year olds can have sex with anyone 20 and younger. 18 year olds can have sex with whomever they please. If the younger party has parental consent, they can have sex with whomever they please. Also, if you get in the situation where you are accused of statutory rape and you can prove that you didn't "seduce" the younger party, the charge is invalid. This can be proven by many different means, one of which being the younger party's sexual history - ie. if you can prove that they've been promiscuious then clearly they were not "seduced" (sort of like brainwashed) into having sex. It's a very muddy topic, even the laws on this are very vague, but after some research I managed to sort it all out. |

Oh, and to answer the original question...
As a friend of a guy who was 19 and dated a 15 year old, take it from me, it's a HORRIBLE IDEA. They're still immature, they have no idea what it is like to live in the "real world", most of them don't have to work so they get everything from mommy and daddy, they can't drive so they bus everywhere, they usually have early curfews and basically have RULES that, as an "adult", you do not have. In the majority of cases, there is a HUGE maturity difference due almost in it's entirety to life experience and personal growth. Once you hit about 17/18, age doesn't really matter anymore, but before those ages (with most people) a three or four year difference could really seem like a huge gap. |

i should print think guide off and carry it in my wallet. neways..answerin the topic. (sorry im not 19..nor a male) but im a 16 year old girl..who was just 15. its a bad idea..i hafta admit it.. 15 year olds still live in a very immature world, they dont know wut they want...THEY SHOULDN'T know wut they want. but when they're 16...THATS A DIFFERENT STORY. but u never know, u're lucky gr 9 could be really mature and knows wuts going on and stuff. i think u're the only one that know if the relationship would work or not. =) best of luck |

Galaxie, where'd you get that?
I've researched the topic, and all I've found in the Canadian judicial system is that 14 is the legal age of consent. Sex under the age of 14 is "illegal". Sex with someone who's in a position of authority (such as a teacher or a police officer) when the person is under the age of 18 is illegal. Parental consent doesn't matter, according to the Canadian system. The American one has different rules. Yay Canada. |

Oh, and about the 19+ and 15, I really think it depends on the person.
I've always dated older, with the oldest being someone who's 11 years my senior. It's definately not recommended to everyone, but it can work. Limiting yourself because of age (within reason, no pre-pubescents) is as silly as limiting yourself because of race, you're missing out on some truly amazing people. |
