If something must be done, I believe that decriminalization is the way to go. Although I believe that decriminalization, legalization and all that jazz is more trouble than its worth. I mean c'mon, does anyone really have trouble obtaining good pot for a reasonable price? As well, they are allowing ppl to use it for medical use, so the ppl that need it get it. I believe that crime will follow grow ops even if marijuana is legalized, because ppl will still try and earn money off of it (most likely the government) and ppl who run large grow ops are greedy and will always be. They will run the risk of getting caught and having penalties given to them, even through legalization and decriminalation as its the government who wants to capitalize on the money. They arent just going to give you a perment to grow 100 plants in you basement for a living. There is nothing stopping you from growing a plant in your closet right now for personal use, because more than likely you will not get caught. Why do we need to spend our tax dollars to get rights for things we already do and to give the government more power??
Anyways, its late and I'm rambling. I'll edit this tomorrow. |

There may still be alot of tickets, but in the eyes of the criminal system thats a good thing. Obviously it will provide more money for them but it will also clear up alot of time that is (in my opinion) wasted on diputing criminal charges blah blah blah for all those minor possetion cases that go to court. It will also keep people out of jail, which is something the states may want to look at given the huge percentage of their "criminals" that take up jail space are there for drug possesion.
And personally I would much rather a fine than a criminal record |

True... but that doesn't mean cops will always give tickets either. If they don't really care then they don't really care. Sure the amount of tickets will go up, but I'd rather have a higher chance of getting a ticket over a lower chance of a criminal record... But thats just me.

^^^yeah no doubt, but one thing that would suck is that you'd prolly get a higher dollar amount ticket for the more weed you had on you (not a fact just an assumption) - sorry if that didn't make sense but i'm really ripped right now....i'll re-read and change tomorrow or sumthin....

I seriously think they shuld just say fuck decriminalizing it and go straight to legalizing it! If the government realy wanted 2 make money that badly of off the growth and sale of marijuana dont ya think they would straight up legalize it and set up shop of thier own?? instead of relying on petty pot growers to line thier pockets??? I know that if i was workin for the government thats the idea that id bring to the table :)hmmm... suddenely i want 2 pursue a career in politics

^^ that idea has most likely been brought to the table by probably everyone who wants it to be legalized.
but in reality it won't. mostly because its not legal in the states. and if it were legal to buy and sell and grow up here think about how many people will try and bring it into the states since it will be super crazy shit. and will bring in 5X the amount of cash that they would get selling it in canada where its legal. i don't really care for decriminalizing it either. if you get caught with a J and some bud usually its a slap on the wrists and they throw out your weed... but now it will be a hefty fine... and i doubt cops will be nice about it and be like.. "oh just don't do it again"... :Peenutt: |

Is this confusing or am I just confused because I'm a foreigner reading about it? Every time it looks like it's getting close to being legalized or decriminalized, something happens that gets in the way. Ontario courts are saying that there is effectively no law in Canada prohibiting possesion of 30 grams or less (pending appeal). http://www.cannabisculture.com/articles/2795.html At the same time, they're talking about a fine for breaking a law that is no longer valid. |
