Have you smoked crack?

B honest...... i have but i would have had the shit kicked out of me if i hadn't possibly, so i dont feel too bad as i really didn't have a choice.

Have you smoked that shit? i was trying not to hold it in at the time, but it was not as intense as i had always heard it was, kind of felt like the first time i smoked pot.

Whoever made it so that you had no choice, but to smoke crack is pretty sick.

Never smoked it.

What's the deal with the ridge?? Or, some people in Maple Ridge I guess I should say. Is it just that there's nothing to do, but cause trouble? My extended family (cousins, granparents) live there and every time I chill out there with my cousin and his friends something always goes down. He's been arrested more times than I can count.

Same as anywhere with problems. You got kids, you got areas where there are people with little money. A drug culture slowly gets bigger and bigger until large amounts of youth are looking for money, everyone is stealing something or selling something. everyone is violent and greedy.
its pretty bad when 13-14 yr olds spend their weekends drunk, high and looking for car stereo's , and an idiot to sell bammer or acid too. heh wait that was me
lol ridge is a ghetto, yuck

i've never done jib, but it is HUGE here

Do you think it has to do more with the fact that some of these kids come from homes where money is really tight... or... is it the fact that when I go out to Maple Ridge all I see are highways lined with drive-through restaurants and strip malls. Personally I think it's a mixture of these things. It's true that there are a lot of family's that live in the suburbs because money is too tight to afford rent/morgage in the city. So now you have kids with no money, and nothing constructive to do whatsoever. I find that there isn't a strong sense of community when I'm out in Maple Ridge. There is a sense of community with people my grandparents age, but not so much in the younger generations it seems.
Basically I think that if there were some really good programs running to give kids something to do and keep atleast some of them out of trouble it would make a huge difference. Things that don't cost money to participate in.
They should expand "night-hoops" out to the valley. That program is great.

Thanks Sean, 'especially for a raver', hahaha yous the shit!...

Real Estate out there is deffinitely a lot cheaper that's for sure. It's too bad there just isn't much out there to make it comfortable for the residents.

We still gotta have those drinks sometime.

well, my mom is, depepending on the day, between the top 1-4 realtors in the maple ridge, pitt meadow & tri city areas so i have some inisght into the real estate market. We have a high density area of lower income familys in certain areas of maple ridge but no more then say surrey or burnaby. But we are a smaller community and the percentage of poorer people hurts us because we are so much smaller. But we also have high income areas such as Rock Ridge, our answere to coquitlams westwood platue. There really isn't a whole lot for youth to do in this area. But really in any area how many kids are going to go see a movie or something when they can pick up some chronic?
i think the high availibility of drugs, booze and a lack of activities definatly adds to the crime in maple ridge, but i think that the actual aMOunt of crime is less here but is more noticable because we are so much smaller of a community.

no i can't say that i have indulged in the white rock......but if given the opportunity i would try it.....ill try anything once.....and i do mean anything...but that doesn't mean id go out of my way to find it.....only if it was convenient.....

but with regards to maple ridge issue....i don't really think its a lack of activities that has youth of the ridge starting a downward trend.....and its not really fair to generalize them like this either becuz i personally don't know anyone that lives out there.....but.....i would have to say that if a high percentage of kids were making bad choices it might indirectly have something to do with low income families....but more directly the lack of adequately educated people/parents........a kid doesn't all of a sudden turn into a punk....its becuz they haven't been raised properly....they lack morals/self-esteem and common sense.....there is no discipline now a days....fuck man i had it easy i know...i wish i had been smacked around a lil more when i was younger but fortunately my parents...(mainly my dad) knew how to communicate with me and made sure that i knew right from wrong....there were consequences when i fucked up....and if i didn't care about the consequences he would jus take everyting i liked away from me....but that rarely happened becuz im pretty much perfect....=)...

but anyway...low income families are usually the result of a low level of education amongst the parents or parent......which could be another issue....single parents....its a lot harder to be the disciplinarian where ure a single parent...theres no good parent bad parent scenario...jus one parent.....

most kids act out becuz its the only way to get a form of attention that they aren't getting....it doesn't matter what kind of attention.......its attention thats all that matters......if you have a kid that is frequently getting in trouble with authority, its a cry for help......its the best way they know how to draw some attention to themselves....they would never come out and say thats why they do it......but it is...

and then theres peer pressure......one bad apple spoils the bunch.....if theres one or two kids that are the leaders and are doing something a lil risque.....lil jimmy doesn't want to be uncool.....unless he's educated and has gotten a lot of love from mommy and daddy........

ever wonder why some girls are jus HUGE sluts.....99 percent of the time ull find that that girl doesn't have a father figure in her life....for whatever reason.....single mom...dad died.....dad jus doesn't pay attention to her whatever.......a girl is a slut becuz shes looking for attention from her dad...and if she can't get that she'll take the next best thing....other males.......

hahah....
so in conclusion....theyre could be many factors to maple ridges level of delinquency....but the majority of the time it comes from a lack of education...and a lack of communication.......

corrie
