Do men really get intimidated by women?
Or is it something my mom says to me to make me feel better about being single.
"aw honey it's just that you scare boys cause you are smart, opinionated, and pretty" (that's right my mom thinks I am pretty) I call bullshit -why would boys be scared of a woman ? What the heck is so scarey about a woman who can speak her mind? I mean I understand being scared or intimidated by a female wrestler or boxer who could kick your ass...but other ladies I just don't know why they'd be intimidated thoughts?

Yeah, it happens.
Mostly I just get shy because the chick is so hot, but lately I've been looking at the beutiful outer shell and wondering... Whats underneath? It helps to quell the fears. But in general I'm not scared of women, expecially smart women, I LOVE talking/bantering/debating with smart women. it's FUN.

Intimidation due to looks is a simple one... all eyes are on the guy approaching the hawt girl... hawt girl tells him to get lost and everyone see this and his ego gets stomped on. Some guys rather not try than to experience the pain of failure.
IMO, guys fear a woman with a brain/opinion because they lack one. I had a great time chillaxing with you and look forward to doing so again. I think women are intimidated by guys with blue hair myself. :(

not intimidated really, most guys are just shy with girls they might actually be interested in for something more serious, no matter how outgoing and self-confident they pretend to be. never hurts to have the female give slightly more definite signs than the usual flirtation stuff.

i think there are possibly 3 reasons for a guy being scared off, or intimidated by a woman who speaks here mind/is intellectual... because first , alot of guys might be a little shy at first and thinking of good responses and smart things to say can be a challenge if your all nervous, two, there one of those guys who think girls dont fart, and dont like to be corrected by a girl who is smarter then them...or three, there just stupid and everything u say just flys over there head....

the typical male usually only appreciates a woman thats dumber than himself. When a dumbass male encounters an intelligent female thier ego dwindles then they give up and run away with thier tail between thier legs.
Its not our fault that the majority of males inetellect consists of:Beer,naked chicks,and toys.

I'm not usually intimidated by girls I just don't like them when they are rude to you becuase they think that they are smarter than you [wich I'm not saying is not true.]
I've seen really pretty girls and gone up to talk to them and then they blow me off like I'm dirt because they think I'm a pig and I haven't said anything yet. Because the I agree with Godessa on this the majority of us are pigs. So I decided. I was going to find not an intelectually smart girl but a sweet girl. My girl, I would say know alot more than me in so many different avenues....even though she isn't intelectual...Hey I don't care that she failed french....She speaks Swiss fluently. See what I'm saying. Because she is the sweetest thing on earth thats why I have her and I can have an interesting conversation with her without her trying to be smarter than me. We get along because of this. sorry about intimidation. IMO...Smart looking, sexy looking, prominent looking girls intimidate most guys because I think all of us have been blown off/rejected/steppedon/or put down by one like that before.....(remember the girl in grade school you had a crush on...She broke your heart didn't she?) So must of us shy away from those types now. Jingles next time you see a prominent chick acting all that. Punch her in the face....she's ruining it.

And I have to agree with what Valerie said about the fact that most guys appreciate women they can dominate intellectually as well as physically. Since the beginning of time men have been seen as the smarter, charismatic, basically BETTER sex. Now to have to approach a woman that they know they can not control, dominate, and be better than is pretty fucking scary. Whether it's their ego in the way or the fact they don't want to be humiliated in front of their buddies. Now that's not always the case, approaching someone like that, no matter what sex they are is pretty intimidating for many reasons. I can be quite the shy and quiet person, usually around people I dont know so well, but people like that often intimidate me whether I'm interested in a relationship with them or not. And regardless of the fact I admire them as well; fast talking, intelligent, confident people have the ability to make you look inferior pretty easily, whether they meant to or not.. I almost wish I was more intimidating initially, I get appproached too often by guys who seem to think I must be naive or submissive because of my giggly, shy personality. It also sucks when you begin a relationship and the guy boots it after he discovers you actually have more brains than he does, or he's scared shitless when you dominate him in bed (however it can be quite amusing as well muaha) Last edited by MistressSpankME; Aug 01, 03 at 12:42 PM.

I'd like to think that I am fairly confident and intelligent (*albiet attractiveness is subjective to personal opinions) and if someone were to be intimidated by that at all, then they certainly would not be right for me whatsoever.
