Infidelity:a sign of polyamory?

So i was thinking last night about people who cheat... my theory is that people who cheat deep down inside must want a polyamorous relationship. I think this because when ive cheated on people it wasnt because of lack of love it was lack of passion and excitement and SEX. I loved the person deeply but they werent able to provide me with carnal bliss...so my eyes went a wandering along with other body parts;)I still wanted to be in a relationship with this person because they provided me with emotional stability but they were unable to comprehend this.
When we get cheated on we often think that the person does not care for us anymore, but its sometimes the complete opposite. So thats where i come to the conclusion that infidelity is a sign of a longing to be in a polyamorous relationship.

i hope this made sense?

It does, but the thing is, people who would consider your straying "cheating" probably don't have the emotional capacity to deal with "sharing" their partner.

I'm one of those people. I don't like to share, and I wouldn't expect my partner to share me. :tounge1:

I kind of agree with both of you actually. I totally see godessa's point but for the fact that to be truly polyamourous you must be able to LOVE more than one person. It is not just about sex. The problem with most people that stray out of a relationship is that it is a one way road for them. In other words, they would probably be pretty hurt if the partner that they are cheating on all of a sudden decided to cheat on them.

Bah, monogomy is an unnatural state of affairs anyways that has been so ingrained in our society that people believe it is the right way to live. psh...

Yes they do. I’m 100% sure of it. Maybe not all of them but the are groups of them that do allow it.

the mormon church hasn't let multiple marraiges since the 1800s.

there are offshoots, but they aren't mormons. the largest has 10,000 members. there is a commune called 'bountiful' with 1000 of them up in creston bc.

Jehovah's Witnesses Believe in Monogamy and Despise even a divorcing like God himself.

Malachi 2:13-16 . In Malachi's time many Israelite men were divorcing their wives, possibly to marry younger, pagan women. God condemned this deceitful, treacherous conduct.

although these verses do not condemn all divorce. This can be confirmed by Jesus' words: "Whoever divorces his wife, except on the ground of fornication, and marries another commits adultery." (Matthew 19:9)

But divorce not being the matter in the thread. I digress.

But JW's don't support polyamory

as a baptized mormon, I can say that you are in fact wrong. the chuch of jesus christ of latter-day saints is one group, not several. anyone who practices polygamy is not a mormon and any mormon who practices polygamy is automatically excommunicated.

I remember watching a special on tv about that group 'bountiful'. what pissed me off the most was when I looked at the tv guide, they called this polygamist group mormons.

Can I ask what religious group it is that are mostly found in Nevada etc. and marry numerous wives from ages as young as 10 and I think even possibly if they are related to either the husband or his wives. The mena re in complete charge and there has even been allegations of young women being killed to "set an example"?

Or the groups that live a very very strict and often guarded life from anyone elswe around them in the world, yet are let free after there 16th birthday I believe, only to live on their own, have sex, drink do drugs etc. basically anything they want compared to the very little they were allowed to do before, and are given the freedom to chose to stay in the outside world and be excommunicated or return to their community and family forever.

I honestly thought those were some kind of mormans, or at least they called themselves that. I know these groups are very different from most mormans but, I honestly remember them being called mormans *confused*

And about the initial topic I have a bit to say about that but I'll get to that later :P

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

there is no such thing as "some kind of mormon". mormons are mormons. and as part of the teachings, mormons strictly prohibit polygamy.

I don't know what group you are specificially talking about. but as rawb mentioned, there is a group called bountiful who do practice polygamy, though I am not sure if they are the same group that you are thinking of.

Okay I'm gonna look around and check - but I'm pretty sure it's the Amish or the mennonite community that has the 16 year old freedoms -

As for the Nevada group....I reember seeing something on t.v about that too.....a special on polygamy (not polyamory) and I don't recall them being specifically religious

the ahmish and the mennonite communities practice the 16 year old freedom that was epxlained, but that is centered around pensylvania, and didnt include the other stuff she mentioned. so i dunno.

^ Yeah I know I just added that one because the first group reminded me of the other. And yes, I know for sure one of them amish I just couldn't think of the damn name for some reason, the amish people didn't even cross my mind even though I now remember them having no electricity in their house whatsoever.

Joanne, I didnt mean to offend you and I did read your post I just had it in my mind that these groups were possibly Morman or some dimented version of seef-proclaimed mormans. I mean there are people/groups/communities that have crazy, dimented cariations o the rules of a certain religion , yet they call themselves a certain religious group, thats what I mean by some variation, not that they were ACTUALLY morman.
