Jingles is on a distinguished road
^^ Interesting
Joannaewould know more - but the birth control pills of the 60s were potent shiznat, in fact the morning after pill is nearly identical to birth control pills of the past (hard on the system)

so if there is a bit of truth to that - I would not be surprised

I don't know your friend's intentions, but I agree with Myra. you can't argue with a person's beliefs about what to do with their own body.

but personally, I'd tell her to go take some condoms from a free clinic. :P

Birth control pills are wrong, but abortion as a birth-control method (meaning using no protection and being stupid, not as in accidents happening despite taken measures) is okay?

Jeebus...Someone has a fucked up view on things.

well, I never said I agreed with my co-worker's mother.. but I guess she assumed that she'd rather have one huge dose of whatever medication to abort a child than be taking a "poison" (I believe that's what she called it) 21-28 days a month.

and Jingles, I was just thinking the same thing.. the dosages of hormones in bcp's back then WERE much higher, but of course, I don't know when her aunt was growing up or if they were administering the same types of bcp's in hong kong...

bebu*funfun will become famous soon enough
my aunt is in her 40s right now.. so yea could be the much higher doses of hormones in the old bcps. i hate how my mom doesn't like telling me about things from teh past.....especially when i get half the story and i personally throw it out of portion. few months ago i found out that my ovaries are tilted in some funky way which i find pretty darn cool..and the cooler thing is that my mom's are like that too. neatos.

yea anyways..back on topic. too many maps are badddddddd. WRAP IT UP!

Most abortion procedures that I've heard of consist of the doctors going in to the uterus and scraping out the lining and the fetus along with it. It can rupture the uterus and cause scarring and cause problems with conception, and it can also cause problems in later life with conception if you have alot of them (because after an abortion, your cervix doesn't close 100%, which affects conception).

Whoo grade 12 biology.

not a big fan of the map. taking 4 doses of regular bcp's in 24 hours equals painful and heavy mestruation and massive headaches...

and the fact that it can delay your period causes serious paranoia of pregnancy..

I just lay in bed all day, literally close to crying.. it's really no fun. I'm gonna try the shot next.

from what I've heard, the uterus is only GENTLY scraped to rid your uterus of any leftover placenta or embryonic tissue after the fetus is removed with a vaccuum like instrument.

as for long term side effects, if done correctly, it is safe for the woman and long term studies I've heard of have shown that one-time abortions don't cause any long-term side effects. I don't know so much about multiple abortions though.

again, I stress, I am NOT saying I am agreeing with my co-worker's mother.

MissBehavior: sorry, I should mention, I mixed up MAP with abortion when writing this first quote.

^No prob...You always have intellegent things to say that sometimes brook debabte, that's all. :)

Just...*shudder*

I mean, I know how much medical stuff has changed, and I'm sure that abortions done 20 years ago were harder on the body than today...But still...Multiple abortions then OR now CAN'T be good for your body anymore than multiple MAPs.
