a very spread out question
I've heard so many opinions and facts about certain drugs, but ecstasy in particular. what are your guys' opinions or "facts" about e? i'll start it off a bit..
i read that spinal fluid being drained from e is a rumour, besides that the only real harm it could do would be a lack of serotine resulting depression. but that's for frequent ecstasy users. keep in mind that i'm only talking about people who take their limit of e. |

Go do a search in the "Sex and Drugs" section here and I posted a ton of answers to questions a while back before the board became what it is today and the kids wanted to know what was going on.
I am in no way an legal expert on the subject, however, I have done a great deal of reading and research on the topic before I made a decision to try E for the first time and wished to pass that information forward to those who cared to learn. So read, learn and make an informed decision and do not succumb to peer pressure. But to answer your question, the consistant use of MDMA will keep your serotonin levels low and that can lead to depression due to the fact that serotonin is used to elevate your mood. Serotonin is not a chemical your body synthesises in large amounts like dopamine so when it is used up it does take come time to rebuild the stores to a healthy level. Some frequent users or E use supplements like 5-htp to assist the body in replenishing the levels of serotonin in their body. I have found that taking 5-htp supplements does indeed work in reducing the amount of time one feels "depressed" after taking E. |

there is no safe limit for ecstasy usage. you can maximize your ability to recover from the known side effects, but you can never be sure you have fully 'recovered' or that you're not doing long-term harm.
there are also worries that when you're doing ecstasy you're probably ingesting one or more other, cheaper drugs and/or fillers. |

|||
To add to what Rawb said, there is also no proof that one ever recovers from the very first time they ever try E and decide to never do it again.
As for fillers I have heard, and see at times from people who capped gels, everything from baby powder, talc, icing sugar to ajax :gross: |

People get sore backs from the dancing so much. I've said it many times before, but here it is again. The whole 'E drains your spinal fluid' thing came from the early 80s or so, when scientists were doing studies on it, and would extract spinal fluid samples from their test subjects. The only thing that really drains your spinal fluid are scientists :) |

whatever. :P point is, there are lots of things in life that'll give you a sore back, and drug induced spinal fluid drainage is not one of them, cos it's just a myth. although I imagine if a scientist drained my spinal fluid, my back could quite possibly be sore. maybe your barstar friends were test subjects :) |

also, if my spinal cord is being affected, why is it that my muscles hurt instead? wouldn't it just be that a narrow strip would hurt and not the broad swath of my lower back? and didn't people say that acid drained spinal fluid too? |
|
|||
what acid does is pretty simple really. it doesn't have any effect on any part of your body but your brain, it activates a few parts, and activates the pineal gland. that's the main factor of acid (activation of pineal gland), it's one of the safest drugs to use if used properly. i am pretty sure that it's pretty hard on your brain, but it's still safe. for the people who do drugs for spiritual reasons, mushrooms and acid can really help you out, along with other drugs. so depending on whether you'de rather strengthen your mind and harm your body a little bit, or just stay away from drugs that harm you, it's up to you.
the way i think of it is, i'm on earth to experiment right? and doing these stuff to have a stronger connection with God is worth the pressure they put on my body. but then again that's just me, lot's of people don't believe in that kind of stuff :trippin: |

NO long term effects of E have ever been proven on humans and the only thing that has been shown in animals was when they pumped them soo full of MDMA, like waaaaay more than you would ever take in one sitting...
People i know who have done acid say that once they came down... they never felt normal again... they say something was just different but they didnt know what...... thats just what i've heard |

oddly enough, in one notorious study the subjects were pumpted full of crystal meth, and not mdma, like they were supposed to be. so the one study that was supposed to have shown conclusive proof of long term damage was quite inconclusive. this doesn't mean that it's safe though. Quote:
