There is some truth to the names of the strains. They are all inbreeds and outbreeds of indica and sativa plants from all over the world. The breeder spends years artifically selecting the best plants of certain strains and cross breeding themn with others to come up with the best strain for certain characteristics..ie, potency, yeild, growth cycle, color, thc content. these breeders give these strains their names. So if one buys proper seeds from a seed bank then they can buy these strains (Northern lights, blueberry, white lighting, etc etc ect) and grow them and sell them as such.
But, I think 80% of dealers out there just pick one of the popular names, hence blueberrry, Northern lights, blah blah blah and assign it to their 1/4 pound they just bought.....and then all the stoners have no clue and tell all their buddies they have the same pot that won the cannibis cup in 1999, and then they go get wendys.
