Do drugs spawn creativity?

There was a special about this on Much More Music awhile back, unfortunatly I missed it.
Maybe some of you caught it and want to share some points from it. Also, share some of your own thoughts and personal experiences.

yeah, i dunno about 'spawn' creativity.

i think you have to be creative in the first place, and then drugs help move that along.

like partizan said some of the best music was written on drugs...also some of the coolest paintings, books, and films.

stephen king wrote many of his books while high on coke.

Not only did drugs create the Krang Stick but they enhanced the emotional bondage to an otherwise inanimate object

That would explain the Large Hookah that the Caterpillar smokes, and yes, I think he was quite the Opium smoker as well. I remember reading about the Guy when I was younger.

Some drugs spawn creativity, others just fuel its output.

There are a couple ways to see it I think.
One is that we kind of pick up creative energy off the airwaves. The more in tune to what's on the airwaves we are, the clearer our creative flow is.

The other way to look at it is with the idea that molecules all have a sort of 'spirit' to them. (Anyone who's done alot of mushrooms probably understands this) It's like when you take the drug, you are allowing its spirit to manifest in your body. All of a sudden the drug is like 'WOOAH cool! I have eyes and ears and hands and feet and a brain to play with! time to have some fun...'
In that sort of state, I've written music or drawn pictures that had almost none of my own influence in it. My hand was moving automatically, and I was watching what I was making thinking 'holy crap this is nuts'. I find mushrooms and other tryptomines do this in particular, as well as ketamine and DXM, to a lesser extent. The best part is, after the drug creates something thru you, you remember how to do it again on your own :)

^i think it's kinda of dangerous to assume that the drug is sole purpose for your creativity during these times. i hope you realize that the ideas are still coming from you, but they might be just released more easily when you are on drugs. since drugs alter your state of mind, you may have ideas and thoughts that you don't normally have when you're sober, but they are still coming from inside yourself.

it just seemed to me like that was what you were saying because you said that the drug had it's own 'spirit' that took over our bodies and used us as tools to push out creative thoughts.

I am extra creative when I'm high...I write all this crazy stuff I never would when I'm sober and I can draw all these random drawing for hours withought questioning myself or getting bored...that's one of the things I love about drugs...I wrote an essay on mushrooms once...its the funniest thing ever.

i saw the episode on much more music about drugs and creativity.....the greatest musicians in my opinion, all used drugs....but quite a few artists said that they were most creative when they were stoned cold sobber....even though they used drugs... some think drugs help expand their mind.... i personally think it has to do with the person. for me, i feel the most creative when im sobber because i can think more clear about my weird ideas and also machanically work better in drawing... exstacy drains my creativity alot....mushrooms gave me a some ideas when i used to do them... but basically im more creative with out drugs...

Right.
All drugs numb your emotions, because all drugs are just like alcohol and heroin....
