Ya i had 3 rats.. They make way better pets than any Mouse,Gerbal or Hampster..

My dad accidentaly killed our rat ben. It was sad cuz Ben kicked ass but he ate our couch. He lived in a big cage with the door on the top. When my dad was feeding him he put the lid down after, but ben had not moved from the edge and got crushed. It was a sad sad day. My dad looked so upset.

i <3 my rat chesnut, it's kind of a funny story how i got him.
(i never thought i'd have a pet rat)

i volunteer weekly at an endangered bird rescue and rehabilitation center, just for birds of prey (owls, eagles, hawks, ospreys etc)

my supervisor told me to do a live feeding, to go fetch a family of teen-sized rats to feed to this enclosment containing 3 golden eagles.

so i'm in the chauteau souris (mouse house) where we keep our live feed, and i see the only family of rats left is a family of CUTE BABY ones, with the nicest markings. so i'm petting them and such, and this one kept licking my hand furiously..

my supervisor comes in and is like 'oh just feed them anyways' even though they were babies! .. so i think 'the birds need to eat too'.. that's when my best friend amanda and i decided to liberate the family, and snuck two babies home in our pockets

so now we each have a friend..
3 months later, he's all grown up
but he still is just as affectionate! such a hand licker
he's never bit me once

haha and i used to dislike rats too, i never thought i'd be so caring towards them after being so desensitzed to their death at work.
