The bill says criminal charges will no longer be brought for possession of up to 25 milligrams of heroin, 5 grams of marijuana (about one-fifth of an ounce, or about four joints), or 0.5 grams of cocaine -- the equivalent of about 4 "lines," or half the standard street-sale quantity (though half-size packages are becoming more common).

"No charges will be brought against ... addicts or consumers who are found in possession of any narcotic for personal use," according to the Senate bill, which also lays out allowable quantities for an array of other drugs, including LSD, ecstasy and amphetamines.

i don't know alot about this stuff, but i was always told that the diffrence between "decriminalization" and "legal" was the diffrence between you being able to posess and the government regulating it.

this is interesting, because almost the same law has passed in Italy, but it has become stricter. we are allowed to carry .5 grams of THC, which is considered 5 grams of weed, or 15-20 joints ( I am quoting Italian news.... I know 5 grams are 5-10 joints in BC... ;o)
With cocaine the limit is .750 grams, of pure cocaine, that means, if you buy the usual shit you can even have like 2 grams.... or 750 of MDMA, which is, hmm I don´t know like 5 or 6 pills... depending on the strength.
So what I am asking those smart pants who passed this law. whenever they catch someone with a minimum amount of drugs, are they going to fucking analize it everytime to see how much the content of the drug principle ( thc, cocaine,MdMa,heroin.... ) How much would that cost ??

Governments, think twice before passing important laws and go with the evolution of society, not with your own priciples and experiences.
