World Vision - Sponsor A Child
Hey everyone! :) Just putting a post up here to see if anybody is interested.
I am currently sponsoring a child through World Vision. They recently asked me if I was interested in sponsoring another child, but I am not able to since I don't have enough money. So, instead, I asked them to send me a Child Sponsorship Welcome Package, in hopes of finding a sponsor for this child. His name is Aryo Seno P Sukarno from Jakarta, Indonesia. He was born on May 28th, 1990, and is currently in grade 3. He lives with his parents in a one room dwelling, which is too small for their family. The father, although employed, earns so little that it is impossible to meet their needs. You could help out this child, AND his family, by giving the small amount of $30 per month to World Vision. This is NOT a scam...80.2% of your donation goes to program services, 14.1% to fundraising, 4.4% to administration, and 1.3% is retained for future use, in case of unpredictable emergencies. If you are interested in sponsoring Aryo, please reply to this post and I'll pass on the package to you. I need to find somebody by August 22nd, 2002. If $30 a month is beyond what you can afford, get together a group of friends to cut the cost...maybe sponsor the child as an F&K group! Trust me, this is a life changing thing...not only for the child and family that you are sponsoring, but also for yourself. In the future, you can arrange with World Vision to visit your sponsored child and get to know him/her in person. I really hope you guys consider this... Erica :AZN: |

I wouldn't mind looking into it.
My family has been thinking of sponsering a child for a whlie, we just havent done anything about it yet. I can ask my parents, then check up on World Vision.. But from what I can remember it is a good organization. Mike, sometimes people just like helping people.. yah it doesnt happen to much.. but I'm sure they get a little money, which they deserve.. maybe thats the administration fee. |

Pegasus**No worries. I totally understand why you would be skeptical. But SURPRISE! YES, I DO get updated pictures of the little boy and his family...and YES, I DO receive letters written by his mother (cause he's still learning how to write). World Vision takes the letters that she writes me and translates them into English. My friend visited her sponsor child last year, and she saw what her money was going into herself. I'm hoping to get the same opportunity sometime in the near future as well. Unfortunately, I'm sure there are organizations that are out there to scam people, but World Vision is definitely legit.
Mistress**I definitely encourage you to look into it with your family. If they give you the go, I will forward this package onto you, and try to help you with any questions you may have. They have a toll-free line with volunteers on staff that are always willing to help as well. Reply back to this post as soon as you know! Erica :AZN: |

*side note*
The administration fee isn't their profit. It's basically money that they need to keep the organization up and running. Here's the website for World Vision Canada if you guys want to read up on more info yourselves: http://www.worldvision.ca/welcomewv...me?OpenFrameset |

Pegasus**Yeah, definitely!! The people who do it are all volunteers too, which makes me feel really good about this organization. They call me every so often, asking me if I am able to sponsor another child, or if I can find somebody else who would be interested...so that's why I'm posting this stuff here. :)
