Not everyone can afford brand new designer (or knockoff designer) clothing and accessories, but why should a beautiful handbag or great pair of jeans go to waste because the owner is bored of them or they don't fit anymore? Hop down off your high horse! |

ya donating is completly out of the question huh. it's got nothing to with being on a high horse, i think if i'm done with something then i'd rather give it to someone who could use it then try and score a few extra bucks. tacky is all. personal opinion, eat it.

I really dont want to argue or anything in terms of that.... But...whats the difference between clothing being sold opposed to vehicles or electronics ? Less fortunate people need those too yet it is the first thing most people try to flip for profit (I dont know if yourself is included in that, im just using a generalization) For people who spend money on high ticket items (ie: purses, jeans, shoes ect) if they no longer wear them, need them or like them its just logical to try and get SOME of the money back for it. Dont get me wrong, I donate clothes and whatever when I can, but if I cant fit into a pair of 200.00 jeans anymore, for whatever reason...Yes, im going to try and sell it to make up for some of the loss im taking on it. |

^ Point taken yes.....
I totally realize they dont NEED those things but people flip those for profit all the time, when less fortunate people could use them just as well. I can understand all sides of it. And people should donate clothing and unused items to those who could benifit from them - I 100% believe that. I also think that if someone spent a lot of money on something and no longer needs it, wears it or likes it - why not try and make some of the money back that you spent on it? If its a 10.00 T-Shirt from Walmart then DEFINATLY donate before trying to sell. But a 400 dollar purse from LV....??? And some people dont sell their things to make profit. Rather sell they things to pay for school, travelling ect. Some people realize the value of education or experiance and sell their things for that reason. Or howabout people who recently lost jobs and need to sell their higher ticketed items for rent, bill ect. Each story is different. It isnt ALWAYS just to make money. Last edited by Pussy*Kat; May 26, 08 at 09:34 AM. |

Handing money to someone is a lot different then putting a shirt on their back. I personally don't understand why someone would spend $100+ on a handbag or $200+ on a pair of jeans but, that's just me. However, I do see why you would want to make back some of the money you spent when you spent so much money on one purse or pair of jeans. I see both sides. :) |

I take my clothing/shoes/purses to a consignment store..1 third goes to the owner, 1 third goes to me and the other third is donated..And at the end of 3 months..if it hasn't been sold..it is donated as well..
I believe in donating as much as possible, but im also selfish enough to want to make a buck. *shrug* =) And speaking of gucci..I totally had a dream last night about the gucci outlet store in New York having the most awful bags i've ever seen! |
