DESKTOP SUPPORT / SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR Blue Castle Games Inc – Burnaby, BC Blue Castle Games (Blue Castle Games - vancouver video game development) is a privately owned video game developer located in Burnaby. In the past year, we have grown from 70 to roughly 170 people and our studio consists of 170 PC/Windows based desktops/laptops. Our workspaces also consist of Xbox 360/PS3 development kits. As a result of this growth, we are looking to add to our existing IT team a Desktop Support / Systems Administrator who would report to our IT Manager. In this role you will own all desktop support/logistics & hardware/software troubleshooting, general Linux server backup administration & performance monitoring, desktop hardware/software inventory and assisting with all network troubleshooting. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Be the go-to person for all desktop installation, configuration and on-going usability of BCG’s computers, peripheral equipment and software. • Work with our vendors to resolve technical problems and to procure new hardware and software • Ensure desktop systems connectivity to all of our essential systems including file/print servers, email servers, conferencing systems, application servers and the internet. • Support and provide training to the studio staff on the use of hardware and software. • Perform all hardware and technical upgrades to desktop and server systems. • Ongoing monitoring of all desktop, server and network performance, ensuring things are running at optimum efficiency. REQUIREMENTS: • 2+ years experience providing XP/Vista desktop support for 150+ users, ideally in a creative environment • Minimum of 1 year of experience providing Linux (Debian & Ubuntu) server based support and administration, including weekly and monthly server backups • Track record in providing excellent customer service and strong trouble shooting skills with both hardware and software • Strong knowledge and experience with networking concepts and administration • A+ certification a must, Linux certification (LPIC 1 & 2) or similar experience is nice to have • Experience working with any of the following: VMware Workstation & Server, SAN’s, Routers/Switches, MySQL, Apache, MediaWiki, LAMP servers, VPN’s and VNC’s Apply via our website at Careers.
