Hi there! My name is Hector, I'm an original member of the Vancouver Popping Crew known as the Groovy Gentlemen since 2003.

Popping is an illlusional dance style originating from California in the 1970's. My class will teach students how to freestyle and create funky and illusional movement to the music. If you've ever wondered what Popping, Waving, Tutting, Robot and Boogaloo are, this class is for you!

Learning Objectives:

-Teach foundational moves in Popping and a wide variety of funk based dance styles
-Emphasis on teaching students how to improvise their movement and make the dance their own
-Teaching style (clean movement, form, illusions) along with substance (musicality, spontaneity)
-Expose students to a variety of music genres for Popping (with child friendly lyrics)
-Cipher at the end of every class to build confidence and practice freestyling in front of others

Private lessons and group lessons are available. All ages, skill levels and locations are welcome and I look forward to showing you just how fun and rewarding this dance style is.
