FS: Raffle Tickets and CATS!

You may or may not know that I am an animal fanatic.

Currently one of the shelters I volunteer at is running a raffle to raise funds for supplies and veterinary bills.

Meow-Aid is a grassroots, no-kill cat shelter located in Kitsilano. This means that we are 100% volunteer based, we do not have a paid executive, or euthanize unadoptable animals. At any given time we will have around 80 cats (and sometimes even a couple of rabbits.) Our volunteers are extremely dedicated and hard working, and we have been lucky to find a very generous vet as well. Even with his generosity, it still costs a great deal for us to run the shelter, and barely make it by.

The Canadian Veterinary Assocation is trying to run low-cost vets out of the area by implementing minimum fees for services and other initiatives. Essentially competition has come into the market, and they can't compete, or are choosing NOT to compete. (This was a front page issue on the Vancouver Sun recently)

This is the second year our shelter has run this raffle and we hope to earn $3000 (about 1 months worth of supplies). With the threat of rising veterinary costs, this year it is even more important.

For more info on the shelter as well as some cats we have pls visit: www3.telus.net/meowaid/

--------------------------------------------------------------

Raffle Tickets: $1 each

Prizes include: DVD players, TV's, hand painted furniture and MORE

Draw date: Sept 1st

If you are interested in entering the raffle or adopting a cat, please contact me via PM.

THANKS!
