Shure m44-7 needles are used by almost every skratch dj in the world, made famous by DJ Q-bert. DJ q-bert still uses them in his performances, how are they crappy?

Dude M 447's are sick if you plan on doing any type of scratching. Nothing tracks like M447's. True they do damage your vinyl over long exposure but if you're scatching of the same old tired scratch record you should buy a new one anyways. I'm loving my new White Label Needles right now!

haa i can't believe i missed the beating down of candy-kids comment... 447's have a awesome sound. no one can rightfully say they are crappy needles.. i've used them for years and have no problem. ive put a couple replacements, but normally they last a loong time, unless u smack them around quit a bit which after awhile can make them sound like crap.. but even then there still good...

Actually no! Because of the way they track and hold the record over time they actually increase the grooves in the record causing slight distortions. I've wron through a few scratch records in my time but because I'm pretty heavy handed when scratching I need M44-7's otherwise I skate every time. If you are purely beat matching and using your needles for playback purposes you shouldn't use M44-7's. I'm digging the White labels for playback when I do actually hop on decks these days. Been doing lots of interesting stuff with cd's lately.
