Looking for a small pro sound system

Ideally, what i want is two mid cabs with 10"s or 12"s with some horns, with metal grills, and a 15" or 18" sub, all self powered, something like this for example:

click pic for details:

Mackie SRM450s would be sweet, but they are just too damn expensive, and i have heard a lot of good things about this B52 matrix system.

We have about $1000-$1500 to play with, and will pick up in vancouver, central BC, even Prince George if we have to. used, dented, ugly, is fine, blown is not.

Let me know via email if you can hook me up, or if you know any places in vancouver we can get this type of gear.

peace!

You might like the yorksville self powered, quite a bit cheaper, but still very decent.

Long & McQuade has Yorkville, some people on this board work there, maybe they will respond http://www.long-mcquade.com/index.as...on=4&level2=12

I was checking out those B-52s online, everyone likes them, they are $800 US at Guitar Center - they have a store in north Seattle (Lynwood) where you can demo them http://www.guitarcenter.com/location....cfm?store=232 - no duty on USA speakers, just PST/GST at the border.

I was gonna get the B-52s but then got a regular amplifier on extended loan from a friend. So I got a couple of conventional Peavey PR-15 speakers, they sound very good (15" woofer + tweeter), $269 Cdn each plus $55 each for tripod stands. More bass than Mackie 450s which are 12". I also decided I wanted portability which is a problem with the B-52 (115 lb subwoofer) and other bulky gear such as Mackie 1530 speakers and 1501 subwoof.

Also check the JBL Eon G2 - not quite as clean a sound as the Mackie but they are 15" and more rugged - I saw a guy drop one on a concrete floor from 5 ' and they just bounced around, no damage.

Mackies are available at Tom Lee Music, they have a store in Abbotsford that rents them so you can check em out plus Vancouver. Peavey for sale at a few places including Toews Music (Chilliwack, Abbotsford...)

Thanks for the helpful posts guys!

Does anyone know where I can get a Matrix 1000 system in canada, other than Axe Music?

I found a set of Matrix B-1000s in kelowna:
http://www.axemusic.com/product.asp?numPageStartPosition=1&PT_ID =231&P_ID=1190

they are still WAY over priced though:
1,328.67 CAD Canada Dollars = 1,074.13 USD

we can get em for $800US anywhere else, that's a $274 surcharge just for being Canadian! Seattle is 5 hours away from me unfortunately, it would almost balance out in gas money, but not in time spent.

L&M has the yorksville's, and they rent them, so you could demo them. They have an excellent financing plan as well.

I emailed the B-52 sales boss a month ago asking where they could be bought in Canada and he just gave me the Canada distributor who is in Quebec. There was a demo system for sale in Vancouver a year ago by one of the gear contractors but it was also about $1300. That Seattle Guitar Center store is only 90 minutes south of Vancouver border. Let me know if you wanna check it out, I'd like to see what they have. BTW there's a shortcut if you're coming from PG - use the border crossing at Abbotsford (Sumas WA exit) and avoid Vancouver.

2 other companies make similar 3 speaker systems - HK Audio in Germany (not related to Harmon Kardon) - I know of a travelling DJ in Australia who has this and he likes it a lot - probably better than B-52 but also more $$$$. I don't think it's for sale in Canada/USA. They call it L.U.C.A.S. and have 3 sizes:

Also Peavey has a new 3 speaker system but it's $2000 US list price.
