FOR: Free to a good home ..2 fish that eat other fish!
Because my boy and I are having to check out of town for a while ...and cannot take them with us-- WE have 2 Oscars that need a home ASAP ...if you like large semi-agressive fish these guys are for you
or if you are more like me and you just like the way they 'dance' you should check them out they are big, they love to eat goldfish they don't NEED meat, they enjoy fish food too they are one large male and one smaller female - perfect for breeding should you decide to turn the temp. up These fish are free...but my boy is also selling African ciclids for any fish enthusiasts and a few large tanks ....I'll see about getting pics call Sean @ 604-807-0135 or PM me =) |

Most consider a 75 as the minimum. With 2 oscars something around a 120 to 135 gallon I will get pics of them and find out what size home they are in currently =) |

#1 - 65 gal. 36" x 18" x 24"
custom sectioned off background/filtering area, matching homemade rocks & a sand substrate. sits on a VERY sturdy stand that is covered in a granite looking countertop material. side shot: and this is the seperate area in the rear that has the heater, filter and powerheads all equipment is hidden from the main viewing area: another 65gal: HOB canister filter, powerhead, eheim 250w heater. Custom background again, matching rocks, sand substrate. sits on a dark wood table. front shot: closer view: both of these would be cool for salt water, especially the latter. . anemones and the like can be stuck directly to the wall, as the mix I used to make the background and rocks is typically used in saltwater displays at public aquariums.. starts to look natural real fast. for saltwater you'd want to spend some $$ on fat lighting tho. |

you will need to buy better lighting for a marine tank if you decide to keep anything other than fish, ie a reef. An anemone needs pristine water conditions and I wouldn't recommend any lighting other than halides.
65 gallon would be nice for a reef, I'm in the process of setting up another 60 gallon reef tank if you do decide to pick up the tank for a reef give me a pm and I can give you links to some good sites edit for cdn-brdr :) Last edited by Leviathan; Oct 18, 05 at 02:07 PM. |

Thanks man.... I really want to set up a timer system with the properly simulated sunlight/moonlight cycle. It's expensive but worth it in the long run.
I'm still up in the air with a few things though like whether I want to do a reef tank or a live rock type tank. As well I'm unsure of the best filter system to use for this type of tank. I've heard rumours that under gravel filters really aren't that good for salt water. |

if your doing a fish only tank you could use pretty much anything, although I would stay away from undergravel filters myself.
if your doing a reef tank, I'd use the Berlin method. Thats what I use. The live rock does all the biological filtering so the only thing you would need is lighting and a protein skimmer. http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/liv...2504berlin.htm keep in mind that you need at least 65 pounds of rock for that tank at 3 - 5 dollars a pound :) |

for a reef tank, I'd get a tank with an overflow and sump, its seriously the best setup - the water level in the tank stays exactly the same no matter what, just need to watch the sump level (extra 20-30 gallons in there to add to total aquarium volume aren't bad to have, right?) they're customizable with filter material, and cheap cheap to run. and yeah, live rock ain't cheap eh? |
