Anybody work at Best Buy?

bestbuy and fs dont make 'deals'

they dont pay commisons to the clerks who work there. theres no incentive for the clerks to close a sale. wich is a plus and a minus

a plus: if you just want to browse around without any sort of sales pressure from pro sales people who are on a commission structure.

a minus:if you want to get good product knowledge,professional customer service and you actually want to make a 'deal'

BB and FS is the wal mart of electronics....wich is a good and bad......

more so bad.

i don't know, i've been employed with the company for 5 years now and they've always told me they were getting comission for sales.

yea i got a bunch of friends who work at FS and they are just normal employees yet they get commision.

do you work in customer service? i know they used to get commissons but last year during the best buy merger it was restructured.

I don't work at the stores, but as far as I know future shop and best buy operate with seperate pay structures at the store level.

CSRs never got comission at Future Shop. But ever since Best Buy opened up in Canada (Future Shop was always owned by Best Buy), they changed it so there's sales staff w/ commission, and sales staff on wages. You can tell them apart by whether their shirt is dark or light blue (although i forget which is which).

Either way, if you do know someone who works for either Best Buy or Future Shop, you can get merchandise at cost plus 10% (same company, same system)... I doubt you'll get a huge deal on a monitor since they probably aren't marked up that high to begin with, but it's worth a shot.

yeah, i meant the salespeople. not the CSR'S.sorry, i should of been more clear. futureshop was until last year a canadian company! untill they filed for chapter 11 and best buy gobbled them up.

its the light shirts that get the commish last i heard. i work at their competitors. so i try to keep up to date on the workings of the industry and such. I love it!

Zilch mark up on any computer stuff. pain in the rear admiral trying to hit margin targets when you have computer crap cloggin up your inventory.

If that's true then it happened way more than a year ago. I worked at Future shop about three years ago and all my cheques came from Best Buy.

Yeah best buy bought out futureshop more then a year ago. They had stores in alberta before they built stores here.
