WANTED: a kitten and kitten buying advice
Hello,
I have been thinking the past 4 months, and yes. I am happy at my home and with my family (bf and his cat), we are stable to raise another kitty. I don't want a pure breed, I don't wanna hit up a pet shop. I found some online for under $100 which I can afford. Anyone have any friends that need to get rid of kittens? i know it is close to kitty season, so thought I might ask. What is a good age to addopt one at? 8 weeks old? |

I'm fairly biased but I say scrap the kitten and adopt an older cat!

yes....SPCA is the way to go.
Think of this: if you get a free kitten it will cost you $200 to get it fixed and like $80 several times for its shots. If you get an SPCA kitten, its $150, but it comes fixed and with its first shots. Mine even came with a free bag of food. |

Yeah SPCA :) that is the way to go I highly agree. I got my kitty from there at 5 months and he was already fixed. Plus when you buy the cat they give you a free vet visit to any vet that you decide to take it too.
I only paid $90 for my kitty and I also got a free bag of food. Plus when you go there you get to visit with all the other cute furry animals :) |

$200 umm it can be yes.. I agree with spca if they have kittens they dont always and some people do not want older cats. Although yes SPCA kittens come fixed OR you can get them fixed for free at the vancouver spca if they are still to small. But if you dont get it from the SPCA and plan to still get him or her fixed you can still take it to there vet and its only about $60 Id look on the spca page and they will show you what they have at the spca. Good luck :) |

hmmm, from what i've heard the SPCA in kalowna is where it's at, that where my 2 little dudes came from, though they do seem to have a little bitta ferral in them they're absolutely awesome, though they were $100 and too young to get shot(s) or fixed, but you can take em back to any SPCA as far as i know. besides save a kitty who's going to be 'destroyed' rather than one thats gonna grow up in a pet shop - well fed fat and lazy :P

Don't get me wrong, the orphanages are great! And I am contemplating it, they are also really far from me and I do not drive, which brings up another problem. honestly, as soon as I find the kitten I am looking for I will take him; itisnt a huge deal where he comes from. Someone said endless supply of kittens, help! LOL, I am having a hard time finding them.. well getting ahold of people. |

Fair enough I suppose. I work at meowaid so I'm always curious as to what opinions are out there.
Personally I've found that a cats background as very little to due with the cats personality. Some that may have been abused etc. may require some extra time but their true personality always comes out. (good or bad) Meowaid is in Kits and I think Orphan Kitty is as well so the distance thing shouldn't be an excuse! Post pictures once you find him though! |
