Good luck :)

it depends on alot of things. My girlfriend bought a beautiful place in new west which is sceduled to open next year it hasn't gone up a penny whereas her sister bought a place in surrey and its already increased in value about 20,000 from 8 months ago. Definately theres some risk involved but you most likely won't "lose" money.

The average realtor will receive a commission of $4,500 to $18,000 on a property that sells between $200,000 and $500,000, depending.

Oooh I know why.
My mom's best friend is a realtor :P
I would never do it long-term. I was just playing with the idea for a little while b/c you can get your lisence quite quickly and I would be able to make enough $ to put myself through school w/out having to work conventional hours :)

Realtors must adhere to provincial law and abide by a REALTOR® Code of Ethics.

Most of us 'new' realtors are more up to date on laws and legislation than most of the 'seasoned' realtors. Not to mention the fact that we are generally more technologically savvy.

People should meet with prospective realtors and choose the one they feel will work best for them.

haha it's so true. My dad epitomizes this. He's been in real estate for around 25 years now but has not adapted as quickly as the yonger generation to things such as the internet and e-mail. But isn't that characteristic of many of our parents ;)?

But despite this, he is and continues to be a top seller every year and has recently been awarded a position as a lifetime member of the medallion club. This tells me that technology isn't everything, and that strong people and business skills is everything. He may not be as up to date on technology as the younger generation, but he's developed and maintained many long-standing relationships with his clientele.

I don't know if I agree with you about newer realtors being more up to date about laws and legislations. In fact, the way I see it people who have been in the field for far longer probably have a more extensive knowledge about any laws and legislations in general. But to be fair, let's say responsible PEOPLE take the initiative to inform themselves, regardless of years of experience.

Personally, if I were looking for a house, I would place more importance on the realtor's experience and clientele base than their level of knowledge on technology (as long as they know how to pick up a phone), just because it seems that nowadays every one wants to be a realtor... (so much so that they're willing to settle for 1% commission), that it wouldn't be fair to yourself not to choose wisely.

Anyways, I sincerely wish you good luck, :)
