Nolan Baumgartner

The Flyers have waived our lead scoring d-man from last year. Are we going to claim Nolan Baumgartner? Fuck, no. We don't have the cap room. Oh well, I'm sure Willie Mitchell will get us 34 points this year...we gotta be paying him 3.5 mill for something.

baumgartner has more talent than mitchell IMO Id rather have baum.

Id be inclined to keep mitchell and give up bieksa and/or fitzpatrick to get baum.

I like krajicek, bieksa is meh. He takes RETARDED hooking penalties probably an average of 1 per game.

Mitchell is a decent defenseman, but definitely not worth $3.5 mil a year.

lol so we're supposed to pick up every bum who gets cut?

have any of you geniuses considered why a cheap, newly signed defencemen gets cut off of a struggling philly squad?

oh probably because he's playing like shit. but hey, lets start up the movement to bring him back. it sounds like an irresponsible journeyman defenceman is exactly what the defensive minded canucks are looking for.

HEY just because we're familiar with him, doesn't mean shit.

btw: we pay willie mitchell 3.5 to clear the net and provide real presence defensively.

yea, he's overpaid, but you don't get free agents to come by low balling.

philly is shit anyways, baum's not the problem.

baums already got relationships here, and i think would still do better than fitzpatrick

Bieksa's playing pretty good, as far as I've seen. It'd be nice if buddy would hit the net some time though.

Dude.. did you even watch the guy last year? I never saw him make any dumb mistakes, was a fast skater, had offensive talent and overall I thought he saw the ice very well.

maybe he's not working out on philly, I haven't been payin attn, but I know for a fact he played great last year. woopdy doo Mitchell can clear out the front of the net? Ive seen him batting away at the puck a couple times like a monkey while players were left unattended, resulting in a goal or 2.

Not sure about Baumer.

He did put up alot of points last year but before that he has been a journeyman since 95.

As Karl said ^

drafted in 94 and hadn't played more than 9 games in a season until last year. Thats a journeyman.

but who knows i didn't really see him play i would prefer to see him play before we sign him back somehow lol.

philly is one of the worst teams in the league rite now, so their whole roster right not is playing like they deserve to be on waivers

u kids gotta relax and realize that John Micheal Liles is quietly becoming one of the best offensive D-men in the NHL.

Damn right! That guy's a ninja for me in NHL '07! LOL The Canucks basically panicked when Jovanoski left and signed the first decent free-agent D-man they could find, overpaying him by at least a million a season in the process.

last year is great and all, but tell me exactly how that would help? i've also had the privelege of watching 2 philly games this year, and they fucking suck, and so does baumer. it's not like we're that much better then philly, the only difference is luongo.

baumer is also averaging just under 2 penalties a game. sounds like a real winner to me.

the guy is a journeyman who had an ok season on a team with no depth on defence LAST YEAR. that is all. 1 season does not a career make.

*regarding mitchell, YES we overpaid. guess what so did everyone else. the market was very good for defenceman this off season. unless you guys think chara is really worth 7mill. or even jovo is worth like 6.5? both of those guys can't even hold a candle to niedermayer on his off days. that shit drives up the price on medium level defencemen. plain and simple. besides if we didn't have mitchell we'd have a really nice hole on defence. but i guess we could just pick up a superstar like baumgartner.

^ Colorado and Ottawa used to be awesome games to watch. Man ottawa is just not the same since last year at all. Losing Havlat probably isn't helping haha.

If we had the cap room i would th ink about going after Nedved. He's on waivers too in philly.

Nedved is the type that he either shows up for a team all the time and plays well or on a team like philly or other teams he just doesn't even try.

Nonis panicked, and we'll be paying for that for some time: max salary, no depth.

i think they miss hasek/chara more than havlat. sure hes a wicked player, but he wasn't even playing for them for 1/2 the season.

hasek was in the top 3 of every goalie category and saved their butt's a bunch of times when ottawa fell asleep.

chara was a dominating force on d, and a huge part of their PP.
