Hussein sentenced to death by hanging
http://edition.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/me...dujail.saddam/
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Many Iraqis reacted with jubilation to Saddam Hussein's death sentence Sunday, while others took to the streets in protest. The Interior Ministry closed two Sunni satellite TV stations accused of inciting sectarian violence, a ministry official told CNN. Iraqi police and soldiers ordered the employees of First Channel [Zawra] and Salaheddin TV to leave their offices in Tikrit, Hussein's hometown. That is where as many as 2,000 people protested Sunday's verdict and sentence against the former Iraqi leader, defying the government's curfew |

You forgot to add this part to the thread. "Within 10 days, the court will forward the cases of Hussein and three other defendants to the appellate chamber of the Iraqi High Tribunal. Appeals of death penalties and life sentences are automatic."
p.s: thanx for the heads up I just woke up |

Well I'd say he probably is guilty for a lot of things.
Just not the things they're charging him with in this trial. Look at the vicious grab bag he was keeping a lid on over there. Before the war a woman could wear a skirt in downtown bagdad. Now the women are switching back to burkas. |

hmmm - the sentence comes down just before the U.S. midterm election which is this week.
Saddam is a bad man but really, the USA invades for false reasons, over half a million Iraquis killed, they appoint a puppet government and have a trial and will kill the ex-president of Iraq next. So crass and obvious of Bush and his creepy associates. |

this entire trial was an absolute joke. For a world leader he should have been put on in the actual war crimes tribunal and none of this sham garbage he's been going through. He's an evil human being however proper justice must be followed
