Posting in a forum is a pretty unsurprising reaction when you're worried about something. You don't know that it's substantial yet, so you aren't contacting the authorities, but you are unnerved, so you look to your peers for support and advice.

Not searching the Streets but maybe making a couple simple Calls to places she might be.

i.e. School.
