"Low Disk Space"

"You are running out of room on disk HP_RECOVERY (D :)........" Yada yada.
I need some assis staaansssss. My laptop has back-up files stored in said drive, and it keeps telling me it is full and i need to delete from it. The thing is, i have done the backing up of said files, and now i cannot delete them. It prompted me to back them up, then delete them when i got the thing a few months ago. I did that. and now i can't do anything else with it.

Any clue what i should do? I want the space and am tired of the repetitive message every 15 minutes, but don't want to fuck anything up.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

No, that's not it, but i appreciate the thought.

Any ideas how to dump the contents of a drive that won't allow me to see the stored files?

Diamonite is an unknown quantity at this point
It's an issue with some HP notebooks. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...os=228&lang=en

Try that fix. I can get the manual command tomorrow if that doesn't work.

The recovery partition has all you need to recover the system (windows, drivers and apps). Those discs you create are incase something happens to that "recovery" partition on the hdd.

Hey, thanks a lot!
Can i delete those files then? I'm going to guess no because i am not even able to access them, but who knows. I would like the extra storage space.

To be honest with you. Those discs you made will do the job. HP takes way to much hdd space. So I can help you get rid of that. What kind of notebook do you have? dv5000? dv1000?

edit: oh! np =)
