I do wish to give heartfelt thanks to everyone that came out last night to help with the food and gift bag prep and help walk the streets to hand everything out.
Big thanks to Neoh for the Starbucks hookup again, SPK for providing the location for us to setup in and Bev/Veni for some very 'interesting' clothing donations! :c-tard: To those of you the once again committed your time to help and didn't make it out or show up... BOO to you! :n: Every time I hold this event I see different angles of the human soul and this year it was very much a slap in my face to make me wince. Yes... the people are down and out but around the Union Gospel Mission the men outside were very appreciative of what we were doing, others still held on to their religious beliefs and wouldn't eat meat and we tried to accomodate them... but the closer we got to the staging point the less I felt that there was anything left inside these people we were trying to help. In fact there were people who were visibly NOT in need to our help at all would come pick through our offerings just to get a free handout and then have the nerve to look me straight in the eye and ask if the food was fresh. Finally.. the fight over a muffin?!?!? I'm at a loss for words there. I hope everyone had a bit of fun last night as there were a few laughs to be had and yes... we should do this again soon but that shouldn't prevent you from helping out people in need before my 'Christmas in July' event. Once again I thank everyone who participated for their support in this event and I'll see all of you again soon. Regards, Winston |

True, but I found most of the other responses outweighed them. WInston's right though, the closer we got to pigeon park the less appreciative they seemed, and minus THE COFFEE IS CRAP guy, the people where we started seemed the most gracious. :)

^interesting. My mom did something similar in Victoria today, and she had very different reactions.
