^ not really in this new age penalty filled NHL. Look at buffalo i don't see any tough guy let alone anyone bigger than 6-2. Especially their forwards....

Islanders don't have a really tough guy maybe one.

Face it Canucks need better coaching and a better GM. Our team has needs more depth in the center position, and maybe one more offensive/defensive defensmen.

I don't have a problem with the coaching, but how good does Brian Burke look right now, compared to Dave Nonis?

And why the fuck did we let him go again?.....

^ I agree with kenji, the smaller faster teams are the ones dominating now. Big ogre players will ultimately just cost us SH goals. Am I the only one that's really sick of the ref style though? I understand what they're trying to do, but for fuck sakes please understand what a HOOK actually is. A hook is somethin that genuinely impedes your progress, NOT just a lil slap on the elbow pad.. geez. they don't seem to understand.

and I also wouldn't say coaching is our problem, in fact the team is far better off with vigneault than crawford.. the GMs gotta go but not the coach.

I have a few issues with the coaching. More or less I guess his decisions regarding player when certain situations arise, but I am being real nit picky.

Nonis is horrible as a GM. Doesn't help that Orca bay hasn't exactly made stride to help the team either *I.E Fire Burke*

and why did he get fired>?

Easy: John McCaw and Stan McCammon of ORCA BAY were in a sense Jealous of how Burke brought in players together and made a very entertaining one of the west's elite teams in the canucks.

Especially John McCaw the owner at the time really did not get along with Burke and was just waiting for a chance to get rid of him.

Of coarse now John McCaw doesn't even own the Canucks go figure..... Ironic kind of how Nonis signed Kessler for 1.9 million to match the THEN GM of the Flyers Bobby Clarke. Who of coarse now has resiged again go figure..

You catch the Toronto vs Buffalo game on TSN recently the 7-4 Buffalo win. Man that game was horrid to watch. They called almost phantom penalties. Than a toronto player gets literally held and thrown to the ground in the crease which would have been an easy penalty in even the 90's.

At least last year the refs called everything even if they were pretty light calls for the most part t his year its been all over the place. Sometimes the hooks they call are when the player just lifts his stick and looks like he is gonna tug on the player. If anything some of these penalties are slowing the game down.

I agree with you. I had this suspiscion that Brian Burke was basically dictating what the organization should do and was seen more of a threat to McCaw's image. Could we sense that John was feeling he was no longer in control of the business, and did not accept Brian's criticism of many things within the organization? Maybe Nonis licked McCaw's shoes to go behind Brian's back, and try to persuade John that he would do just as good as a job at half the cost? Who knows..in the world of business..you have to do what is best for the organization. We dont know all the details behind closed doors..just what is presented to us in the media. :eyes:
